PS3 exploded, can i put savegame data on new PS3?

Hi folks,

I'm a bit confused.
Suppose my PS3 exploded and burned down. Luckily I have a GT5 savedata.

If I buy a new PS3, then install GT5 with my old account/email etc etc....
Will my GT5 save data also work?

Or will I have to start anew all over?
 
Yes, it happened to me.

My PS3 didn't explode, it got the YLOD.
But luckily, I had a backup of my save file and it works with my new PS3.
 
You'd have to do a lot of stuff to a PS3 before it literally explodes:ouch:
 
It only works if you had a backup file before it exploded otherwise your screwed.
 
Exploded? Sweet.

But really, that sucks to hear.
 
If your PS3 exploded you may have a more serious issue. You should be able to take the save file from one PS3 to the other.
 
No problem at all, as long as you create the same user and log into the same PSN account.

the only small issue you might have... you may have to ''rebuild'' your thumbnails in the garage. annoying, but easy to do.
 
1. Every PS3's HDD is tied specifically to the PS3 Hardware that it is originally formatted on
2. If your PS3 breaks and you attempt to put its HDD in a new PS3 it will need to format the drive to work, and you will lose all of your data


ways around this...

1. Backup your game save regularly to a flash drive, or external HDD
2. Pay the $50 per year and become a PlayStation+ member. You are given 150MB of storage for game saves on a cloud server
