You are reading it right, Pong is now on PS3

http://psnhome.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2404

I've tested it and it works, except for a small issue where P2 has to use X and Square to move, but I'm checking if changing controllers work.

Edit: actually I think it's made so two players can just use one controller if needed, or that's my guess.

Chris.

It's possible to play alone, and actually quite fun, but I was testing it going 61-17 against my sister, lol

I was just thinking...

Whatever happened to Pong?

Is this safe for your PS3? It would be great to be able to install a range of wee games like this, but I don't fancy risking untested software on the PS3, esp. since even an official Sony update can louse things up pretty bad... anyway, it looks pretty cool nevertheless...

It seems perfectly fine without any bugs reported so far, partly because nothing ever gets on your PS3, everything stays on the USB flash drive (in my case a 2GB iPod Shuffle), and runs off that.

Yup, its safe for the PS3, it just thinks its running an interactive movie, nothing more....

As said above, it all stays on the flash drive too.

I just tested it, and it works 110% perfectly.

this games using the BR-J player which allows java based disks to be used on a BR player. but actualy this isnt the first java game to be used on it. its actualy the second or third. so far ive seen blaster bunny, snake, and pong and im sure this will become a trend in the PS3 homebrew scene.

Just downloaded Pong and Snake! Going to try then later, thanks for the link Wallrunner 👍

I know currently the games are rather simple but could it be the skys the limit for thier complexity? I mean could you get to doom levels of graphics and gameplay through this interactive movie style coding?

Can you imagine having all the classics and flash greats on your PS3! without any danger to your console.

Robin

You wont get games much better than what you get on your phone (which also uses JAVA) using this method.

Until a way to run proper unsigned code (C/C++/C#) is found, the homebrew scene for PS3 wont be going anywhere fast.

And when said unsigned code is made there will be the chance for malicious "brickers" out there. If it is possible to brick a PS3.

What are you on about?!?!

You can run unsigned code on a PS1, PS2, PSP, Wii, XBOX, GameCube, and pretty much every console under the sun apart from the 360 and PS3, yet there are no "brickers" for any of them.

actually all of them can be bricked. the PSP gets bricked all the time they just now have the pandoras battery which can fix 99% of all bricks to it but it can still be permanetly bricked. as for the other consoles all of them can be bricked its just that all the hackers that have hacked the consoles will usualy not release a unready hack that can brick your console. but im sure everyone hacker thats tried hacking a console has probably bricked at least one of there test consoles developing for it.

I was saying that no specific "bricker" has been made for any of them tho. If they become bricked its ALWAYS and accident.

ok, this is gonna sound dumb, but when it says to put it in the root of your memory stick or flash drive, i have a flashdrive, what is the root? like what is it called?

oops sorry i doubled posted, but if its 536mb does that matter? how i delete my post if i doubl posted it?

When you put the Stick/drive in the PC, you should have a drive letter associated with said device. We'll call it drive "F" (hard drive is "C", CD/DVD is "D", etc.). You'll need to extract the program to "F:\*whatever the name of the program is here*". Put the Stick/Drive in the PS3, follow steps 5 & 6 from Wallrunner51's link and enjoy.

You don't but if you ask nice, a Mod can do it for you. :)

ok but i got a PONG_Pack.rar from that download, where do i put that to make it work on my ps3?
Use something like Rarzilla to extract the PONG_Pack.rar and place the items in the .rar on your Stick/Drive.

so amke the .rar a folder and put the thing in there when i do the rarzilla thing? im not getting this at all lol sorry
