PS3 not reading disks!!!

Hi

I Switched on the PS3 last night and wanted to give Uncharted 3 a go, it worked fine for about and hour then it froze, Whirring/clicking sound and screen went black. :(

I Restarted PS3 and tried again, this time error message came up, saying CD may be dirty and gave a Error Code, can't remember what it was.

Anyway put in BF3 and that worked perfectly fine and thought it must be the Uncharted 3 CD, until today when the same happened to BF3. I tried playing it again and it worked for about 30 mins and it was fine then once again screen froze, went black and Whirring and Clicking sound. :mad:

What do you guy's think is wrong? i'm guessing its the Laser correct me if i'm wrong.

Backed up all my save data first thing i copied was GT5, don't want that to go.

By the way Its a "Phat" 40GB console.

You're laser is almost dead...Had the same problem couple months back with Assasins Creed Revelations, ended up buying a new PS3.

1st time I had that code, also with a 40G phat it was still in warranty and was fixed by support.
If you're a handyman, there are fixes on the internet.
If you're not a handyman, it will cost you 150+ to get it fixed.

Thanks, Thats the right code.

I would rather buy a new PS3 and reapair this one, then give it to my brother, there is a store nearby where i live that can repair PS3's.
 
I do have a PS3 help thread with loads of ways to fix problems, try search 1st before you make another pointless thread.

dont worry about it, I know how you feel, my Blu-Ray Laser has burnt out & needs replacing, so I made that thread to help people. I sent my PS3 off to PC World to get fixed, 3 weeks later (Today) I get it back & told they dont have the parts so im just gonna do it myself.
