1st off im wondering what your opinions are to which you like the looks of better the Fat or the Slim . im planning on looking into seeing if i can swap the mother boared of a slim into a fat so you get all 40nm goodness and the distinguished looks of a fat all in one, think it could work? maybe there might be room for the fats 18 blade fan aswell. Am i crazy or not. And has anyone heard of this before?

The first fats were the better looking. Its black plastic was actually see through, and its chrome details were glossy. My brother has a Fat 80GB one and it doesn't look as good -- The chrome strips in particular aren't glossy on his.

The slim is horrible in my opinion, its latest iteration doesn't even have the power or disc-in LEDs.
 
My fatty has been running 24/7 since I purchased it, no problems whatsoever.
 
I think fats, particularly CECHA/CECHE fats with the translucent body shell and chrome accents, are the best looking ones.


However, I think putting Slim parts into a fat shell is a bit extreme.
 
Ye thats the model i got the CECHE01 came with a controller made with same translucent plastic no vibration feature either . im not shure if ill ever do it not soon anyway but a cool idea though, mine is approaching its fourth birthday and only problems ive ever had was a blu ray go out imma be replaceing my thermal paste soon also good to hear its been a real work horse.

Slim PS3 are not sexy like the original fat ones. But Slim consume less power even though fans are smaller

It's not because the fans are smaller lol.
The Slim no longer uses the 90nm die size like the PS3 Phat, but instead uses the 45nm.

I voted for the fat PS3. My 60GB looks awesome and I would never trade it for a slim.
