PS3 Optimal Display Settings

Tube TV's are the best when you have the room. They have the closest full rgb support around. I find richer colors with rgb at full and limited seems too bright for me.

Try playing CoD4 on a tube tv. You wont care about the color, you'll care about being able to see opponents. I'll stick with my HD thanks.

It definitely made a difference on my 52" 1080p Sharp Aquos. Fantastic TV. I'm typing this too you all right now utilizing it as my PC monitor. I'd reccomend an Aquos to anyone, although it's not necessarily for the budget minded.

Like many, I had my settings set to RGB Full thinking full is better than limited. I changed it today, and with my TV at the right settings, it's miles better in dark scenarios. I don't have to turn up the brightness in game anymore.

Great tip.

;)

I actually have the 42 inch version of your tv. LC42d64u. Is yours a d64 or d82? And yes, I love it and would recommend it to anyone. Also, how do you have your computer hooked up to it? VGA?

LC52d64u pretty sure that's what it is anyway. I'd have to check my documentation to be sure.

I have my PC hooked up via a DVi to HDMI cable. Seems to be the best option, I'm to understand.

Playing GTR2, with a wheel, in front of this 52" beast at 1080p is nothing short of brilliant.

Yeah it probably is the D64, the D82 is 120Hz thats pretty much the only difference. And that does sound like a great way to hook up your computer to it, though my computer doesnt have a dvi port, my dads new laptop does :)

I was playing on my settings RGB are set to FULL... everything on max.. I think it looks better on my TV. Makes Black black, and White white.. I also Try on the Uncharted game, I think makes game looks better with that stuff ON, and adds realism that caves are darker.

I agree with RGB set to full. If I have it set to limited, everything is washed out. I spent a couple of hours fine tuning my TV with one of those Blu-Ray demo discs. I'm pretty happy with the results. However, I couldn't find any information about if my TV does support 0-255, but it certainly looks better with it set to full.

I stay away from the Game Mode setting. All those fancy options on my TV just got turned off with this mode. I have a Samsung LNT-4665F.

Just tried different settings on my pc monitor.
RGB test images show that when I set RGB to limited, the distinction between the different dark shades are better than RGB set to full.
The problem is that full black looks more like dark grey.
So I changed the brightness and contrast of the screen to get full black look like black.
After I did this the distinction between the dark shades were almost the same than when I set the RGB option to full.
An extra drawback is that all the other colours look less vivid, like others have pointed out.

So I'm sticking with Full RGB.
Also have super-white enabled, but I don't think the screen supports it, probably only works mentally 💡:dunce:

Nice tip! I play GT5 Prologue only since JPN version and had default settings. (RGB limited, Super white off). I've always been bothered by 'glitter' at the seams of the bodywork, Super white enabled resolved this along with better lighting, with RGB limited. I use 37' Sony Bravia LCD @720p. I did this days ago, but am so pleased I felt compelled to say thanks...

Thank you very much. RGB Limited and Super white off made a very noticable improvement (Sony 52 inch LCD). The dark areas display details that were not visible before, and the asphalt looks much realistic than before. All areas of the screen that were just dark black before are transformed. Great tip, thanks again.
