I bought second-hand PC, only for racing-sim, few months ago. It has Core2Duo+Nvidia 8800GT+Head-set, and ofcourse all needed accessories inside... I had 22" HD-LCD by myself. It cost me 300€, and I can easily play with it iRacing, graphics almost on top.

Look out for your local computer-nerds websites, cause those dudes build their own machines, from best parts, and they update their PC every year so they can play WoW with maximum graphics... you may find nicely overclocked package, with lots of under PC-store prices.

im a computer nerd, you can just ask me! i built mine to play crysis.

I have bought a cheap pc and saved the rest of the money for the ps3, lcd and a wheel.

The system I got is:
duo core 5200
4gb ram
ati 4670 1 gb
using my old 19" CRT which imo has great graphics on 1280x1024 res

Every game I have run so far on 1280x1024 res and highest settings works fine:)

I think I made the right decision. I'm waiting for GT5 to come and that is when I will buy the ps3. I just hope it wont be 1 year away..

Well I was going to buy my second PS3 (the first one went faulty) when GT5 comes out but I've ended up buying it now when I saw fight night round 4 at my cousins.

Alot of people are pinning hopes on Gran Turismo being the real deal now that it's got damage and hopefully online mode runs good.

With your system you might be able to use 1920 x 1080 resolution. But I think you'll need a bigger monitor. And if your graphics cards got that HDMI connection, then that is even better.

Problem tends to be that a good gaming PC is quite expensive compared to a console, and the PS3 is quite attractive with its media features.

A good media centre PC that can do the same job for the same money is rubbish for games...

Oi, im a computer nerd... i dont like being bundled up with WoW players thanks :P.

Mainly into racings sims and occasionally FPS or games like GTA Series.

But ill be spending AUD$2400 on my next rig building it up, and hopefully I wont have to touch it for 3 years like my last one.

That and I bought my PS3 purely for GT5. Its collecting dust waiting for it to come out.

That'll never happen, you'll upgrade it again within a year or two ;) I bought my PC hoping it'd last me for all of Uni (at that stage a bit over 3 years), but I've still got a year and ahalf to go and I want to upgrade already. :p

If I had of known then what I know now, I wouldn't have bought an expensive PC hoping for it to last 3 years, I woulda bought something a bit cheaper and just upgraded it. Mostly the video card, spent $430AUD on it, should have gotten the $190AUD 7900GT back then, then upgraded to a 4870 or GTX 260 now. Instead I've got the 8800GTS 320mb which struggles with newer games at my monitor's native res.

But I still comfort myself knowing, even though I may not be able to max out all games, every multiplatform game I've played looks better and runs smoother on my PC compared to the consoles, even though my PC is aging now. ;)

You're probably right, probably only last for 2 years before i do an upgrade.
