Ps3 problem?

I was playing need for speed most wanted (NSF mw) on my ps3 (NFS mw is a ps2 downloadable on the psn (now called SEN [Sony Network Entertainment])) and then it suddenly froze then my tv said "no signal". When my tv said "no signal" I went to my ps3 there was NO red OR green power light, I pressed the power button then the light went red and I thought I got the red light of death (yes there is such thing as the rlod) then I pressed the power again and it worked with no corruption at all :D.

What do you think is wrong?

Maybe just a temporary overheat or something, but I would back up your system now if you haven't already in case it happens again and corrupts the hard drive.

It might have been an over heat. To solve that just move farther away from the wall, if its on the carpet and you have nowhere else to put it, make it stand up sideways so the carpet doesn't insulate the bottom. And try not to put it in enclosed places, like the little shelves on an entertainment center, unless air can travel in and out the back side.

Also do what Gdog96 said, can never be too careful. If you ever get a Yellow light.... im sorry.

Happened to mine a couple times before it didn't turn on again.. :(

Yup give it more ventilation and don't overplay it.

Slim or Fat?

Thats weird
it sound's like it lost power by your description. tell us if it does it again .
its not a YLOD or RLOD and yeah fat or slim?

P.S its not an overheat when my fat overheats it shuts off but the red light blinks.

My one is the slim. Thanks for the help. If I do get the YLOD or the RLOD can I back up in safe mode? Is it normal and safe that they do this? Also it might be a surge of a lot of power because once on my ps2 that happened.

This probably. Or power loss. Slims don't ylod easily. I don't think they ylod at all actually.. So your good.

IF you got ylod no it wouldn't turn on at all. I'd just do a back up now to be safe.

I don't have a high enough memory stick to boot up so I might save my game data only and if I do get the YLOD I will try safe mode or as for my ps3 still has warranty I could get it replaced for free if I get it.

Yup just the save files will do, everything else can get reinstalled. I'm sure it was one time thing so you should be fine. 👍
