You also sound like a generic internet n00b, a member of the "ZOMG M$ MAYKE MONIES AND KILL BABIES" group, but mixed in with a bit of Sony fanboyism "ZOMG SONY CAN LYKE DO NO WONG!", raging against the machine, when they infact use MS products them selves, and are too blind to realise that Sony are just as money hungry. IMO Sony are worse than Microsoft in many areas, especially when it comes to B2B, they treat other companies like ****. Look at that time they wanted to use a domain name that was taken and being used on a popular Gran Turismo fan site, they sued the site for using the name or something. Thats not the lone example either. You just have to accept, companies will stab in the back to get what they want it doesn't matter who they are, and it's not lmited to Microsoft or and Microsoft associates.

... First and foremost, I use XP not because I want to, its because I have to, otherwise I'll be on Mandrake. Second of all, I'm not raging against the machine (and wtf it comes to do in the fact that I hate Microsoft), Third, yes I am a fan of generals Sony product (but not the Xplod audio systems, they do suck), they make some good products, but I'm not gonna jump on any opportunity of buying something from Sony just because its Sony. PS3 against Xbox360, no questions ask, theres maybe 5 reasons why I prefer Sony PS. I Plus, I dont care about ''money hungry'' its none part of why I hate Microsoft....

The funny part to me is that for once, Code-Kev wasn't the one with the issue.
DJ-Civic, you just can't come onto a forum and say, "This company sucks!" and expect people to just say, "ok!" It's always good form to backup your opinions with facts or at least reasons for you to feel that way. This is why Code-kev jumped on you. Because your stance makes no sense in the way you have presented it.

My opinion on MS: They recycle all of their crap. Windows XP is really Windows NT 5.2 with a new name to hide the fact that it's...well, 5.2-ish. Longhorn is a whopping Windows 6.0. Wowz0r. I also detest the fact that they are using recycled tech for the Xbox 360. While it's a safer move on their part (not wanting to use mostly un-tested materials) I think it's a bit on the weak side. I'd rather see people trying to actually do something different. I'm also thinking that that very reason is why the Nintendo Revolution is going to have some AWESOME shooter games. lol

I didn't mean literally weak, and by now I should learn to be more specific with my words. lol I mean to say that the Xbox 360 is using mostly generic parts. I mean, if I wanted, I could go out and build my own Xbox 360--though the software might be a bit difficult to come by. I couldn't at this time make my own Cell-powered computer because it's new technology. It's like dual-video cards vs. a video card that's twice as powerful as all the old ones. In the end they're about equal, but it's cooler just to have the one twice-as-powerfu one. At least, that's what I think. Whether or not my opinion matters, though.... lol

Revoloution is rumored to be using a new GPU with the same architecture as the Game Cubes GPU for 100% compatibility with game cube. The GPU is NOT anything ATI has already for PC gpu's. It's made be a company ATI bought and they just use their name on it.
IBM indeed will make lots and lots of money in a few years.
Edit: With all the power many Xbox 360 games will run at 30fps. its been confirmed that every EA game will run 30fps. Also PGR3 was running at 30fps from reports. Are they trying to do too much too soon or is XNA not up to the power of the system being basically current PC tools.

- PS3 may be released no earlier then Semptember 2007, as first real-to-specs technical showcase should be seen at E3 2006, but the final console (tech and design) should be awaited until late 2007.
- Ken Kutaragi (AKA "father" of PlayStation and president of PS development) stated on Tokyo Interantional Digital Conference the PS3 will push-out 120 (one hundred and twenty) frames-per-second as a standard. Truly scary stuff.
- Nintendo's Jim Merrick (N's Europe marketing division) stated the Nintendo may "never unveil" a Revolution's true specs.
- Japanese Xbox boss Yoshihiro Maruyama confirmed that Xbox360 will never use HD-DVD standard for games in future at no point, but the "future DVD drive" (and he didn't say which one) could end up as a media-drive for movie-playback. He was clear about X360 to bring game-related content only on standard DVD. No other details were provided.

Well, Code, you know that it's true if I say so
.2007 is a very good move and a very expected one, I must say. Thay'll slash the PS2 prices to the bottom in next 18 months, push forward the PSP and make a space for it, and then take the all attention on E3's 2006 and 2007 and then release a PS3 console. M$ will fight their own NG war for a year and half, and strategicaly - it is exactly the same as "Dreamcast move" from 1999. Time will tell.
As for 120 fps as being a standard for PS3, Kutaragi said it two days ago in front of many wise man at very important bussiness conference in Tokyo. If he says so, then it's true. Nobody knows what nVidia has in it's sleeve. All PS3's tech-specs are irrelevant untill the final confirmation. And if the plan is to Rule-Them-All then Sony'll do it.
On the same conference, Kutaragi spoke about three possbile new Cell processors, Dual Cell (with just two cores), Mini Cell (smaller and weaker version of the current Cell) and Micro-Cell processor, designed to use at various hand-held devices, such as mobile phones, etc. However, the MiniCell or MicroCell could easily become a core for the new generation of PSP console in the distant future.
As for 30fps on X360, it is also true. DoA4 is THE ONLY X360 game that thas reached 60fps so far, but it not constant. All other games are loocked to 30fps at this moment, mostly because the major slowdowns that appears at 720p output. I hope that it will be solved, but then again - you never know with the M$.

This is the link to an news-site with the easy-to-understand transcripts. However, on some pro-sites the real transcripts unveils that 120fps on 1080p is the target for Sony. And probably the one-and-only reason why PS3 will come out in two years from now.

I can understand the FPS rate being given a standard setting. Obviously some games may go lower, but you can set a GPU to provide a constant rate, provided the system always has resources left over to use when theres a lot going on ect.
As for the 2007 release, it could be better than late 2006, late 06 puts it in competition with the XB360 sales wise, people will still be buying XB360's or hae just bought them and may not want to spend 3000 quid on another console. Late 2007 is a point where the vast majority that will buy an XB360 have already bought one and the majority of thoes will have had enough time with it to consider another console by then and to have saved up by then.

Exactly what i was thinking but i'm thinkng it has somehting to do with the develoment tools. Every one talks about how easy it it to make games and that the software does the jobs for you(if you are using a single core like pretty much all the games other than COD2 which runs 60fps not in split screen).
PS3 in 2007? If they give developers a full 2 years to work on games then you can expect them to cost more. If Sony told Nvidia they wanted something more than what the RSX was(crazy to begain with) then i can see a 2007 release.

Hey amar! Quick comments
First off, I really find it hard to believe, unless MS doesn't do well with the 360 (which it is doing well) that Sony is going to give them any more of a lead than they already have.
You have to understand, that with the PS3, sony is fighting two different battles, and in two different races. In one hand you have the console race, and sony will have to play catchup and make some mony.
In the other hand, you have Blu-Ray, and Sony NEEDS to get this out as soon as possible, no if's and's or buts. They need to beat HD-DVD to the market, and that is what they will aim for.
With that said, I am calling a Japanese release of the PS3 in March/April time frame with a price tag of $399 or higher, and a US release of the PS3 in Oct/Nov with a price tag of $399 flat. At latest though, Sony will release the JPN PS3 in Oct/Nov along side the US release, with Europe following after in March/Apr of 2007.

KK did not say that the games will run at 120fps as a standard, as this would be rediculous, because no TV can display it 
He did, however, say that the PS3 was capable of such, and as newer technology becomes available, he is glad to say that the PS3 will support it in every way. I really doubt, however, that any game will have a frame rate of 120fps as a standard. It's just possible, marketing at it's best
