Ok so I have been playing GT5 no different than I play any other game when it comes out... ALOT. However I can see where grinding b spec bob may eventually cause problems. I have a 40 GB Fat that I upgraded the HD to 320 GB. I have had this system a little over 3 years. I get home from work This past tues. morning to find the red light blinking. I then turned on the system and it stayed on about 5 mins. then beeped several times and cut off by itself with red light flashing. I never saw a Yellow light. So I take it apart and do the heat gun thing to the mother board after removing the old thermal compound. Put new thermal compound on and reassembled. Fired it up and it ran fine. I backed up my HD just in case something else would happen. The next day I fire it up and do all 5 of the Bonus Race No. 3 and 2 of the No. 4's. Then set up Bob to grind the 200 mile Indy endurance race. After he finished it ended up being on for approx. 4 hrs. straight. Just as I go back to the main menu, it cuts off by itself and blinks red again. What the hell? Do I need to try to reflux, or will I continue to have these types of problems out of this system?

Think your parents will be less pleased with this performance when they see the power bill.

Really? Mines been on 24/7 for like 4 years. No YLOD or power bill. Still well under my alloted wattage and I run 2 PCs 24/7 as well...

The longest mine has been on straight was for a week I would say. I was doing B-Spec grinding where I would set an alarm for every 4 hours or so to make sure I kept the races going continuously. Recently, it has been on for two days straight as I am A-spec grinding for money so I can buy more of those LM race cars.

I turned it off for a few days.

Ehh? Its not human.. 20mins to an hour would restore its temp. Think about it, there is no difference from a PS3 running 7 hours compared to 7 days. Of course the PS3 has its life cycle like everything.

the only thing i would worry about is the motor that spins the discs wearing out. that's what would wear out on my ps1 and ps2

Whenever I go to quit gt5 to get back to the xmb my system freezes with a blank screen. I have to restart the system and everything works perfectly fine. Does anyone else have problems quitting a game to get back to the xmb?

Before playing GT5, I rarely played with the ps3. However, I remember there were times when the system shut off by itself a few times. And it would beep a few times. I think I was playing rockband? I could turn it back on my pressing on the power button directly on the console and couldn't do so remotely via controller. Mine is a 60 gig fatty. Were those early signs of YLOD?

Don't know what all the fuss is about when you leve a computer running for a few days lol. They are made for running long and hot, you ever turn your pc off when your downloading stuff for days or weeks on end ?

you can leave it on forever just make sure dust is not a issue and the room it is in is sortof below 25 degrees and it will be fine.

Mine has been on for 3 weeks now constantly doing either B-Spec endurances / A-Spec Indy 10 lap grinding on full auto or I am racing myself. Its a 60gb launch Ps3 and I keep it clean, stands upright and make sure he can suck in cool air.
