OK so...long story short, was in Bspec today..and the system crapped out on me, it shut down..I figured it was overheating light was blinking red so I let it sit..this was about...5 hours ago..its still not coming on, so I'm not holding my breath its coming back...I was wondering is it possible I hook my drive up to my PC to rip the GT save data from it before I solve this issue...since plugging the drive in another PS3..wont cut it.

Tried pulling out your power plug/ flicking the main power switch at the back yet? If you have done neither, flick the switch off and on and see if the PS3 works. If not, pull the plug and let it sit for a few hours and come back. That may just be enough time to backup your harddrive to an external drive. If you back it up be sure to delete all the crap you dont want backed up so that when you do back it up it wont take forever and overheat the ps3 again.

You can not back it up to a computer. As far as I am aware you can only back it up two ways and that is by backing up to an external or hooking up a lan cable to another ps3 and transferring data across that way.

its blinking red light, it wont run for more then 5 seconds. I cant even get the disk out.

BRLOD? Never heard of this.

Sorry you are having problems.....if you don't mind....which PS3 do/did you have?

Look it up, its incredibly common, signs seems to point to over heating...but its been off for more then 24 hours. and loose/dead HDD and the drive was exchanged with another and it still does it. starts like normal then there is a clicking noise in the system, that seems to be coming from the disk drive, then very briefly flashes yellow for like a split second then blinks red and beeps at me. Its a 40gb Fat.
