PS3 Slim conversion

I'm not sure if this can be done, but i have a 60gb ps3 that i have had since release and 3 days ago it got the ylod. I can get a ps3 slim for $50 but the catch is that it has a dying bluray drive. Can i just take the whole disk drive from the 60gb and put it in the slim? It is a modded 60gb with a 500gb hd and the 19 blade fan instead of the 15.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe it is possible, as all the different PS3 model drives & casings have different screw placement & overall dimension differences.

The drive is too big to fit.

You might be able to swap just the laser over (assuming that's the problem) but it's a gamble. Try Google maybe.
