What about final fantasy.
Not to mention Devil May Cry 4, Metal Gear 4, Tekken 6, and of course Killzone 2. And in all honesty, no fanboyness at all, I've played the PGR games, and can say that I hated them. If I want to race Ferrari's, heck I'll pull out NFS: High Stakes for my PC. Gears of War looks very promising, but neither that or Halo 3 will persuade me to buy a 360. Of course, different people who like different genres of games will buy different systems. I mainly play sports, racing, FPS, and fighting games, so I will get a PS3 and most likely not a 360. Is Resident Evil 5 an Xbox exclusive?

As for the systems now, I've played a lot of PS2 and Xbox, and although Xbox is more powerful, the selection of games with PS2 just wins it over for me. But clearly, to each his own.

I check out both forums. I'm positive about both systems, I know that both will have awesome games, but I never say which i think will be better.

But you can say, after all it´s just what you think it will be better.

Saleen Man, call me crazy, but I find that it actually helps to actually play the games first.
I will end up playing 98.78921% of the "big name games" for both systems. And if Gears of War is as amazing as people are saying, I might end up buying a 360 to pass the time before PS3. Anyone answer my Resident Evil 5 question?

All i have to say..is The X box will no doubt be dominant when it comes to FPS.....it's MS..MS is a pc based company..And FPS's are 1/2 of the pc games out there.....Not to mention..TRIGGERS..

Sports..it's a toss up on controller comfort...

Fighting games will most definately be the PS3's strong point game wise....Along with RPG's...Althought..Th xbox360 has some promising RPG's on the horizon..

and Saleen..
RE5 is for both systems..3 and 360..

Final Fantasy the franchise is also for both systems....Ps3 will get 1 projected title...360 will get 2 titles..

all i've got to say is i hope the FFX assclown doesn't ruin another potentially good game...

There are far fewer fps for pc than RPGs and strategy games. so 50% is way off.

IMO FPS wont define how good a system is alone. There will be more people wanting Jak 4 and Ratched 4 for PS3 than how many will want the assumed "M" rated Halo 3 world wide. There is just a bigger fanbase out there. Not to mention for RPGs. Keyboard and a mouse will be far better than just having triggers. You comapre xbox to pc because of fps and pc gamers will not use an xbox controller to play FPS that dont have auto aim. So in your case ps3 would have the advantage since its already been said xbox 360 wont support keyboard for games. Even if Xbox does dominate fps(xbox only did because of hardware limite of the ps2) it wont be a major advantage.

But with every Xbox fps next to none of them were original Xbox games that originated on Xbox. Farcry for Xbox is probably the best fps for xbox from what I've read and played. More enjoyablr than Halo 2. But most of the great Xbox fps are on pc. SONY has no such hardware limits anymore, thats what stopped the same games from being on PS2 and I'm glad they didn't even try. PS2 wasnt known for having just one good type of game they had many. Xbox is known for just having good fps(XB is the way to go for that) everything else(not an rpg or platfrom game) is even.

People are forgetting that for Americans it will be just more than a month till we can play X360, and for Europeans just under two months... I honestly can't see the PS3 arriving here for at least another year. There's no real comparison here, in terms of games the Xbox 360 dominates the PS3 simply because we actually know what's going to be released. It may very well turn out that the PS3 has a better lineup when it is released, in case you Sony fanboys want to tackle me for what I just said.

Remember that the PS3 will have to compete with its launch titles versus the X360's full year of released titles. Right now, I can say that there are plenty of good games for X360 that will be released at or around launch. I can also say that it appears there will be several good games for PS3... when it comes. Those include MGS4 and, of course, the next Gran Turismo.

The X360's spotlight 'launch window' (aka pre-holidays) games are thus:
Ninety-Nine Nights
Kameo
PGR3
Test Drive: Unlimited
Gears of War
Perfect Dark: Zero
Saint's Row
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Quake IV
Call of Duty 2
Dead or Alive 4
Full Auto
NFS:MW
Ridge Racer 6
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland

Now keep in mind all these games aren't for everyone. There are several games up there that I'm not interested in in the least. I can say I will buy PGR3, Saint's Row, and the Elder Scrolls IV. There are plenty of 'maybes' up there, including Tony Hawk, NFS, Call of Duty, and Test Drive. PLUS all the sports games...

Just keep in mind I'm not a fanboy of either... I own both an Xbox and a PS2. Just remember that the Xbox 360 is coming out looong before the PS3, and if you want some of these great next-gen games, it would be very useful to pass the time before you grab a PS3. Which I may just do!

I,m annoyed Dead Rising has been pushed back, was so looking forward to getting it. On the day the Xbox 360 comes out in the UK. Oh well at least PGR3, GR3 is out on the first day of Xbox 360 w00t.

I've decided I'm getting a XB360, I can afford it so what the hell.

I see it the same way. Not one single actual PS3 game has been seen. Sony just released the final SDK with all the right tools and programs(ageia, havok, Unreal Engine 3)
I favor the ps3 based on hardwaere track record as i never played a single game on a console before buying it.

Gears of war is not in launch window.

Can you afford an extra one plus shipping to Brazil?

Thanks in advance. :)
Yopu know I think I could, but I'm not going to  Nice try :sly: .

MS are gonna pump all forms of media with a crap load of ads saying that PDZero will be like the second coming of christ, they're spending more on selling that game than Halo2! Pity it looks bland. I'm gonna wait till the third coming of the chief before I splash out on a 360.

If Rare somehow got the Bond licence back... that WOULD be like the second coming :D
MS should be offering EA any amount of $$ for Bond. Then, they would shift some units.

MS dont make FPS games though. and the 360 is not a pc. MS were around in the 80's, but did they do anything at all to do with FPS? no.

No one said MS made FPS games..

but since MS is more involved in the Pc community..don't you think it'd be a friendlier transition into the console world to go from pc involved company to computer gaming console?

as apposed to....DVD VCR to Computer Gaming console....

Not really, the architecture of gaming consoles is different enough froma PC to give neither a notable head start in the console market. The main thing with your argument there though is that by the time MS got in on the console market Sony had already had a good shot and in their first attempt beat away the experienced masters of the market so they were more experienced in the market than MS and still are. Thats not to say MS can't pull out the goods, I believe the XB360 will deliver quality entertainament, but I don't think it will put much of a dent in Sony's dominance.

I already see false information in this thread.

For example, GoW is not a launch title and will not be availible until 2006.

Or for that matter, PS3's titles are not some great mystery.
There are several titles that are known to be on the way for the PS3 (although I can't say exactly when).

However, even with all of that said, there should not be any comparison of availible games between the two systems simply because one system is coming out in less than two months and the other hasn't even had a released date fixed.

If MS didn't have a firm list of titles for release I would be amazed and the gaming community would be even more suprised.
I mean really... Less than two months from now the 360 will be on shelves.
That in itself means there are going to be more titles to talk about for the immediate future (since the system is actually releasing).

PS3 on the other hand...
Sony seems to be showing what they have without releasing all their info regarding those games.

I am looking forward to seeing what Sony will have to offer but I am also looking forward to seeing the comparisons once both systems are out.

Frankly, anyone who buys one system without giving the other time to be released is asking to make a mistake.
That is, if you are interested in the best system.
If you are only interested in the getting a particular system for your own reasons than it's all good- go buy it.

However, for me, I want the best system regardless of the name.
Sony took me from Nintendo, MS may be able to do the same with Sony.

The only thing is that MS has to do more than release early.

IMO MS has been copping out on the late launch of the Xbox.
Fact is, I didn't buy a PS2 until the summer of '02.
My reasons for not buying an Xbox had nothing to do with the release date.

I think MS should be more realistic about that... As of now and the last year or so, MS has tried to act like the only reason the Xbox didn't match the sales of the PS2 was because of the release date; I think that is wrong.

If that truely were the case there would have been no market for the PS2 long before I bought one.

Anyway, I'm just saying that my pick of system will be based on a multitude attributes and the release date is not an issue.

Hello!!

I read the whole thread.

This "battle" was funny.

HALO was designed for PC!!!!!!!!!!
MS bought the develepment company (Bungie if I am not wrong). And so it was changed to a XBOX "only" title. HALO was not a commercial succes when they released it later on the PC, cause it was "too" old than.
I bought the PC Version of Halo. And I liked the game a lot. The Story was good, and so I bought the 3 romans available. They are a good read.

If you don´t want to make a Mistake, talk to one of your friends. You buy yourself a XBox 360 and your friend buys a PS 3. So you can play ALL Games that are worth to play it.

From the Tech Data the PS3 "must" be better. The Speed of the Main Memory is so much faster. And If you have knowledge of Computer Architecture, you know that the Memory Access Speed is one of the possible bottlenecks.

Have Fun!

Buy both Systems ;-)

If halo was design for PC..how come the port of it was so crappy?

Now..You can say Halo Pc was fun alll you want..

but it really wasn't.

I still play Halo regularly because it's got an amazing replay value..

but halo Pc....just..never...ever...could never..do it for me..

and it hasn't for anyone i know either...Even people who STARTED playing halo with Pc.....

I've yet to try halo with a keyboard/mouse on the x box....but...seriously..people online on PC..generally sukk.

okay back from tangent land :)

I agree that Halo on the PC is crap, it was originally developed for the PC mainly though, my guess is that it was crap cos they hadn't finished the code when MS bought Bungie and they just left it for so long then came back and rushed the rest knowing that it was too late for Halo to impress properly anyway.

In an inter view with OPM November issue Phil Harrison(SCE vice President) says that basically the way the playtstation 2s online model operates will be applied to the Playstation 3.He admitted that the xbox live online gaming service is one of the tihings that microsoft had done well he said that sonys plan is to let puvlishers estavlish their own means for getting consumers online and to let the publishers interact with consumers directly instead of using sony as some kind of buffer for the online experience. Kind of puts a damper on all that "Playstation world" stuff huh

Well...

The PS3 is gonna rock it like it's 1999.

I might head over to a buddy's house and check his 360 out when he gets it, but I doubt I'm gonna spend my cash on an inferior system to the PS3.

My 2.

So why did you buy a PS2 then, the xbox is technically faster.

As said before, I love how the "power doesn't matter people" have suddenly changed their minds pretty damn fast. ZOMG THE PS3 HAS TEH CELL!!!!1!! It's to be expected though, these people wouldn't know their sonic from their mario.

, he can't get out of that one. The X-Box is more powerful and a superior machine to the PS. I don't get loyalites to a company like this, if the PS3 was out before the 360 and the 360 was more powerful they'd all probably say I want to play next gen games now not mid-late next year.

And as I've said before, I love how the "power and numbers mean everything" people have suddenly changed their minds pretty damn fast. ;)

After listening for years to Xbox fanboys guffaw about how much better 'their' machine was, I'm willing to give PS fanboys some slack.
