I believe the PS3 will automatically format any new drive you insert.
Sony should offer a service/option to let us use a perfectly working HDD in another PS3.
This, a thousand times this!
If it hasn't gone yet, get an external hard drive and use the back up feature. I got YLOD'd on the very first night GT5 was out, so I didn't lose much progress...
But yeah, if you back it up through the PS3's function you can copy that back up back over to a new PS3 should yours eat itself.
The problem is that the PS3's hard drive is formatted to only work with that particular PS3 and no other, so no other PS3 will recognise the drive. My slim also didn't offer to format my 320gb drive, though.
Question, the unfortunate getting the YLOD, was it on the old fat ps3 or was it the newer slim ps3?
I thought you can't do this to backup GT5???
Question, the unfortunate getting the YLOD, was it on the old fat ps3 or was it the newer slim ps3? I'm so paranoid of getting the YLOD that I cant even really fully enjoy the game. Im using the slimmer ps3 btw. Ironically because my old fat ps3 got YLOD almost a year ago now.
Is it me or a few more than the average number of PS3's dying after playing GT5?
my PS3 died while playing GT5, had it since Launch in 07 and GT5 killed it, now i have a slim![]()
