I was thinking they should use Sophy on weekly challenges, but then remembered Sophy is only available on PS5. That made me once again wonder what actually is the user distribution between PS4 and PS5. I'm not gonna separate Pro versions as those dont affect the games content. Lets see if we can get a good enough sampling from GT Planet users.

I clocked around 900 hours on PS4 before upgrading to a PS5 back in august 2024.

Load times, dualsense haptics and better looking car models are the main draw for me on the new platform. I'd say the PS4 version, given the console's limitations, is still very competent.

I‘m still playing on a PS4 Pro. The game runs great but the loading times are excrutiating, especially while saving liveries.

I‘m getting a PS5 at the end of the year as I’ve been waiting for the PS5 Pro to release.

Great turnout so far. Lets keep it coming. 😃 I think other than Sophy ps4 especially pro is good for the game. That said - Sophy is phenomenal with correct settings and I really like that 100fps on quality mode VRR I get with base PS5. I really dont need PS5 Pro at this point.

Not surprised to see PS5 in the lead on this forum.
I assume the dedicated player will spend the extra cash for a PS5 more readily for the better experience it offers over a more casual user which wouldnt usually read and reply to all the game forums for the games they play.

Since buying a PS5 last november i’ve only played GT7 on my PS5 , i’m in two minds to delete It off my PS4.

So -119 votes so far and we are starting to see constant result of approx 1/5 still on ps4. To me this is surpricingly small portion. Could this poll get pinned for a while to gather more data?

4-1 split is about in line with the data I've seen elsewhere, for all PS gamers. I'm surprised the PS4 percentage here isn't higher, they are a vocal minority.

I think it's a good point

Slim PS4 here, sometimes I think about the PS5 but the gain is too low for me versus the cost / impression of throwing away a ps4 that gives a result close enough to me (and the PS5 still don't have enough exclusive games to make me buy it, maybe it will change this year with MGS3 remake).

Then there is the PSVR2, THIS is the game changer for sure, but it's another 500 bucks to add (and seeing how Sony handled the 1st PSVR, I fear little support / games for this v2)

True I expect the percentage of ps4 to be a lot bigger in the whole player base. Propably more PS4s than PS5s..

~4000 hours of GT7 on the PS4 Pro for me. Though I think most of those came from leaving the console in rest mode while logged into GT7 - I got stuck at the GT7 loading screen a lot.

I upgraded to PS5 in March because my PS4 died. Because I installed an SSD in my PS4 the day I bought it, I haven't noticed much differences in loading between my PS4 Pro with an SSD vs the PS5. Time Trials in single player do load the track very quickly though. I recommend ditching the harddrive for an SSD for PS4 players the same way I'd recommend laptop users.

GT7 does look nicer even on my 1080p monitor. Maaaaaybe I'll get PSVR if the price is right.

I was under the same impression until I finally upgraded, and the difference has been much better than expected. I also have the slim PS4. The biggest differences that I've noticed between the PS4 and PS5 are that load times are now miniscule compared to what they were on the PS4, and that most games run at a consistently higher framerate with minimal studdering (depending on the game). A lot of games that were introduced at the end of the PS4 generation usually also include a PS5 version as well, and the games that don't have generally run smootger and more consistently.

I still use my PS4 for those games that are too old to have a PS5 version and weren't optimized to take advantage of the new PS5 hardware, and it helps me save space on my PS5 for games that ARE able to take advantage of its power. Plus, now I can play most of my games in both my bedroom and living depending on what I'm feeling.

Just a couple of points for thought!
