Well PS3 was released a fair while back and GT5 is not long away.

I've heard some roumers about the PS4 to be developed and i thought this waould be a good time to have your thoughts on the matter as well as what we would like to see on the console and even layouts of the controllers etc. etc.

Also tell us about games that might be involved and what sort of games you would like to see the console host.

Now come on....join in and tell us what you think about the PS4....(or well what we think it might be like anyway).

Oh and by the way I have searched for this topic and found nothing so please correct me if there is already a thread about it.

Nice 👍👍 I just thought it would be great if they actually used the controlers that they say they were one like this

^ That's a horrible, horrible picture, my eyes!
PS4 will be just sa underpowered as PS3 and PS2 was, this is called marketing, they are making money primarily. GT looks good only on the car side, everything else is meh. There was huge diference between PS1 and PS2, PS2 and PS3 not so much, visually PS4 will be close to PS3 even more so.

If you take two big screens and run GT4 on one and GT5 on other and look at it from 20 meters or so there will be almost no difference between them.

Well, in all the 'hype' for PS4, remember that there will probably be GT6 coming out before PS4. Seeming as it was, PSX - GT1, GT2. PS2 - GT3, GT4. PS3 - GT5, GT6?

Maybe it will end up like final fantasy, and have like 15 versions. :D

I went and bought my 3 year old a ps2, and call of duty 2. The ps3 is a huge jump over the ps2. It must have been awhile since you actually played many ps2 games, because they are horrible when compared to PS3 titles. Now if you take still shots of games they may look closer, and I'm sure if you are 60 feet away like you suggest the difference won't be much, but really the PS3 was a huge jump forward.

After your 20 meter remark though I think you might be using sarcasm, so if you are never mind my post.

Hmm ps4, wow i just hope they dont screw that one up lol. Either way, i think the ps3 is a bad ass system. I bought mine around the time of its release and never had a problem. Hope they do the same with the ps4. My xbox on the other hand sounds like its about to choke.

I like everybody's thoughts and suggestions and keep them rolling!!!! :D

Has been discussed and this thread was only on the 2nd page.
Oh and by the way is it alright to have 2 threads about the same thing going at once....because I searched and nothing came up. I'd hate to think that i would have to close the thread! :O

Probably not, the new gen of consoles is set to be around 2012. Unless they did the one year turnaround for GT6 it would just make more sense for Sony to do GT6 as a launch title.

Cell processor is a very powerful processor, sony invested millions in the developpment. Experts say the new cell processor for the ps4 will be 10 times the power of the ps3.

Actually recently Sony has been saying they wont use the Cell or an updated version of it in the PS4. They want to move the a more simple PC components setup like on the 360 due to the backlash from multi platform dev's that its too hard to code for (which translates to too hard to port the 360 version!).

Thats if there is a PS4 at all, when things got bad and the PS3 was doing terribly they were hinting it would be the last console they would produce.

Robin.

If GT6 is set to be a launch title, then no one will be happy. It either means the PS4 is coming out in 2015 or that GT6 will be an updated gt5 and not a completely new game.

Not nessacarily. Every update of the game makes it a new game. More cars, tracks and detail all contribute.

Oh and thanks for the good response. Keep these ideas rolling!:D

Well, looking at the history of GT games, GT6 will be a ps3 title coming out sometime in 2012-2013, meaning the ps4 will come out sometime after that. Unless sony wants to release a console before the xbox900.

I think they should create a new wheel for it too. No idea how it could get any better than the G27 though

OHH 100TH POST YAYAYAYAYA

I've seen people knock the PS controller before.

Why? Is it not terribly terribly functional? I like it. It has a grown up feel to it, showing that games consoles aren't just for spotty teenagers (unlike the vibes gotten from a brighly coloured, more aesthetically interesting controller from microsoft), it is very ergonomic (we've all played long sessions without getting hand cramps - or at least I have) and if there were any more buttons on it, it would be getting too complicated and not as easy and free flowing to learn the ropes of a new game.

The only thing I'd like changed is for the anologue sticks to be given a few more degrees of tilt all around to allow for better precision. Other than that - keep it the way it is. It looks alright, blends in nicely with the rest of the room when playing's done, and very functional. 👍

Also, replace R2 and L2 with proper triggers. Games would be so much better.

Yeah, slipping off the accelerator or gun trigger can be annoying sometimes. There is always those 10 dollar extension triggers but I dont have them :/.

Fools, if they knew anything they'd be working at Sony or MadCatz(lol) at least, the DS is timeless, virtually unchanged since its first inception, save for the Analogs and SixaxiS, the design is impeccable, fits the most comfortably in any hands(except some Andre the giant banana hands) stylish sleek, and now that its wireless its better than ever. Id give it longer battery life.

Idiot! When was the last time you played your PS3 stood 20 meters away?

Lol, yeah, the fact that the human eye works less well the farther away you are doesn't really make me pine for the PS2 days.

Anyway, the PS4 won't be out until at least 2014, and I don't personally expect it to be released until 2016. The PS2 had an epic (technically still getting new releases) span. Sony wants PS3 to last 10 years. PS3 has 3D TV support via last update, BluRay is going to be in for a while, the great games are starting to come in faster, the PS3 is really just hitting its stride right now.

As far as the dual shock: it's great, every version gets better, and it'd be perfect for me if they put in a SNES style DPAD. The Directional Pad is the one thing that both the PS and XBox controllers have sucked at for quite a while now. Nintendo pretty much always gets the ol' DPAD right.

So, Sony would piss away the multi millions they spent on the cell development to make it easier for developers and move to inferior technology that is designed for programs like Word and not for video gaming. There is a reason why exclusive ps3 games make the XBOX look poor..... If you lot hadn't noticed at the back of every ps3 is a 1gb ethernet plug. Rumors going around is that Sony will sell a box that plugs in to this which has more ram and a multiple cell processors which reduces not only development costs, but the need for consumers to update their entire console. The hardware and software 'IE BLUE RAY' in the playstation 3 is advanced enough to go through till 2020.

Mircrosoft will move to cell chips before Sony move to the Microsoft equivalent.

needs to be bundled with a USB keyboard and mouse, so devs actually use it for FPS games!

Right now you can sorta hax about in a XIM to use your PC to do the controlling of a PS3 via keyboard and mouse to emulate controller stick

I just can't use the sticks to do anything with a FPS. Even MGS4 is a pain for me :(
It probably wouldn't be so bad if the sticks weren't so soft and rubbery feeling

Anyway the rumour is that the Intel Larrabee might be used in the PS4
