PS2 has 2 special graphic chips, VMO 0 and VMO 1 which allows processing of the special tasks like fire and water effects.

Guess that putting the backfire wouldn't be a problem if one of those chips (memory units) would be used just for that.

For example, Max Payne on PS2 had better flame/fire effects then on PC just because of that VMO unit. And they were photorealistic, that's for sure.

i hope all the rally cars have mis-firing systems...i love the sound!!plus the occasional backfire

I wouldn't trust anything until I could see a final version of the game. A 'reputable' website claimed that there would be a feature in Winning Eleven 7 that would allow you to play as one player for the entire match. Can I find that feature anywhere in my copy of Winning Eleven 7? Er, no.

Exactly, PSM is notorious with errors like that.

Yep. I remember when GT3 was about to be released, PSM said the AI was so new and advanced, it would anticipate your moves after it races against you for just one lap. Also, PSM said the AI would retaliate against you if you were too aggressive with your racing style. PSM said the AI in GT3 would be more "human" than ever before. Yea, good one PSM.

I have this issue in question here, and it never mentioned that PD will add tuner parts, but PD were working with the idea of adding these parts. Just to note, PD, according to Yamauchi, were toying around with the idea of adding drag racing into GT4.

i was gettin all confused when reading the first page of this thread, all this talk about back firing and mechanical failure made me think PD was gonna implement back firing because of damaged cams/pistons. but looks like some people use back fire as a different way to say exhaust flare. thanx for gettin me all excited, there goes me thinkin that the pistons gonna be flying out of the hood of my scooby if i keep the thing at redline.

ehhh I doubt PD would have Pistons flying out of the hood  but hey you never know... I think this is great news (if its true) because its like these little features really brings the realism alive and into the game, I say they should work on more things like these to really make the game stand out, like in another thread someone talked about adding customized license plates, even thought its kinda worthless I think it would be pretty cool specialy if you could use your modded car online then you could see the diffrent plates that people would come up with or whatever. Like over here in america they could have license plates from each state or if not have them with county flags or whatever just to add a lil more customization to the game...
