My PSN is up. I am having issues with my alternate account though. My first account is linked to my real email. After doing the update, it told me to change my password which I was able to do. For my alternate account I used a similar email that is not real. It wont let me get to the section of changing my password, instead it says to go to the email account on the PC and change my password there. Anyone else have this problem or know why this would happen?

Maybe you could say supplying a false email is against Sony T&Cs so you're probably out of luck on this one.

All is not lost. As per the PSblog... you have to contact Sony customer service if you *cough* ''can no longer receive e-mail'' *cough* at your registered address.

Depending on how much effort you have in your secondary account, it may be easier to open a new one.

I did set up another account, and also set up an email that matches that original 2nd account that I had. Hoping an email will come through after seeing someone else post that it could take up to 24 hours for the email to come through.

Getting an "error occurred" message when I try to go through the process for my GTP acct. It figures Sony would find some way to [deliberately] make this process more painful.

Using one email address for as many accts we like and clan, team, group tagging would have prevented millions of bogus accts.

I have good emails in my other accounts, but I'll have to wait for the email to come within 24 hours :banghead:

I have the same issue with my alt account and because its not a subaccount I cannot change the password from the master acct. I also get the error 80710D36 when trying to log in to change password.

My other account it says PSN is currently under going maintenance.Primary working fine

Yeah they said 77million accounts were comprimised by my guess is 30-40million are fake accounts to do the things you mention lol.

I wonder how many are birthday accounts?
I know some users on here that have 13 accounts.

The problem on my backup account is that I set it up using a legitimate email account on Hotmail, whereas my main account is Yahoo.

I totally forgot about it, the Hotmail address for the backup account got deleted because of non activity, I can't access it now to get the message - gutted. I only just found this out.

A few other guys I know have this too, we didn't copy or fake our email addresses, we used legit accounts but they've now been deleted because of non activity. I set mine up when I got my PS3 4 years ago, I'd even forgotten the name of it, it was only when the password change message quoted it that I knew what it was.

Gutted - it had a hell of alot of stuff on there for GT5, in case my main data got corrupted.

It's my understanding that calling PlayStation Customer Service is the only way to take care of inaccessible accounts. This evening, I had several emails come to my [newly created] email addy.

One nifty thing about this, my daughter and son changed their pwords and I got an email in my primary acct confirming it.

Interesting, i have not received any emails & i changed all passwords on both of my AU accounts & my US account.

Log into it through Hotmail. It'll be reactivated. Then go to change the password on your PSN account again - a new e-mail will be sent out and you'll be able to receive it...
