Discuss any PSP flash game you have played in here!

You need to have PSP Firmware 2.7 to be able to do this, available to download from the offical website or from the "Network Update" option on the PSP itself. After this, you need to enable the flash by going into the "System Settings" (will only work using a wireless connection).

To get the web browser based games to play, you'll need to put it in a folder on the memory stick, for example your COMMON folder. Go to the web browser, then type in file:/psp/common/*whatevethenameofthefileis*.swf in the url tab. It should then work. :) If it's in a .zip folder, extract the game first, otherwise it won't work.

Oops, forgot to add an important part to this!

Firmware 2.7 has just been released, available to download on the "Network Update" option from your PSP, or if you haven't got wireless internet, from here and probably a few more sites on the web.

The main feature of this update is a Flash player (Macromedia 6 I think) which allows you to few flash images and to play flash games.

Damn! That rocks! Odd, I thought they were gonna go straight to 3.0 this time.Haha, that little game is awesome!

By the way, LocoRoco is not made in Flash, it is a demo of an upcoming game (a must buy IMO). However, I have gotten Trogdor to work :D so I'm pretty psyched about that. www.homestarrunner.com/trogdor.swf

EDIT: When you click on this URL on your PC, you get a download link. You can put the flash file on your PSP's memory stick and then access it through the browser to have Troggie anytime!!!

Oh, I never knew that. I figured you were playing it straight after the update so it must be a Flash game.

I'll try out that other game later when I get the chance. 👍

Yea, LocoRoco really does look like a Flash game doesn't it... I'm sorry to say you'll be quite dissappointed in the Flash support that has been added in version 2.7 - it's quite slow and choppy. However, it's probably a hardware issue, as the PSP really isn't meant to be a laptop replacement or anything (although it does have a ridiculous amount of features).

If you enjoyed the LocoRoco demo, I'd pop Sony an email telling them how much you enjoyed the game, or just demos of games in general. Hopefully the release of game demos online will become a regular occurance.

Yup. Got perfect on everything... 20 LocoRoco's, 541 of the little flies, and all 3 black dudes. Did it in around ten minutes as well! This game is addicting... I can't wait for its release!!!

By the way, www.newgrounds.com has an entire section devoted to the PSP. They have a huge amount of flash movies that play very well on the PSP. Go check 'em out - you won't be dissappointed.

anyone beat LocoRoco 100%?
I have perfected everything too. I done it in about 13 minutes 40 seconds.

I've played a few flash games around the 'net, but they are still very laggy and slow. Turning the quality down to low helps quite a bit, but it still isn't very smooth. I tried playing "Defend the Castle". It was hilariously hard without a mouse.

I haven't check out there yet. I will do very soon. :)

I wonder if its so slow because it hasnt been optimized to crank up the cpu speed since in the menus its runnning like 22mhz. I'm guessing the web browser is less than 100mhz. I'm sure a fully clocked 333mhz and optimized can run all flash games fine.

PSP game demos is such a cool idea and I'm looking forward to more. I had no idea he sings the song with his lil mouth moving while hes rolling :D

Demos are such a good idea, great little game also.

Probably a stupid question but how do you play downloaded flash games like trogdor (post#7)? Where do I put the swf file on my memory? How do I access it?

BTW I do have 2.70 installed and flash enabled.

Stick the .swf file in whatever directory you choose (say the COMMON folder) then type file:/psp/common/example.swf into the web browser. Replace example.swf with the name of your flash file, and you're good to go.

I've found a Tetris flash game, from here.

I'll attach the file here as the creator doesn't mind.

This game is pretty good. It just sucks becase I couldn't figure out how to totate the friggin' pieces!

From what I've heard, you can only activate it with the PSP connected to the internet. That's it.

Just go for a walk around outside, I'm sure you can find some wireless connection to enable your flash. ;)

How long did you wait? It takes a few minutes for the videos to load up and download, then it plays.

For me, a few of the videos come up with the message "out of memory", which is odd as that's a specific part of the site for the PSP...

i clicked on one before and waited a good 5 minutes and nothing, theres not even any loading icons or lights blinking or anything, plus any otherpage i load up usually loads very quickly

ok sorry i got flash working but i have another question, when i go under the movies section and try to download a movie IE - salad fingers, when i click download it goes to a white screen filled with nondescript letters with a loading symbol at the bottom, anyone else have an idea of whats going on???

XMB is the Cross Media Bar (the user interface of the PSP). As for the weirdness during downloading... I'll check it out and get back to you. Right now I'm in the middle of an intense Race Driver 2006 session. :sly:

That downloading weirdness is supposed to be like that, you're supposed to press triangle to get the options up, select "save link as" and download it to the folder necessary (which is explained in their help section).
