Well I for one have not purchased the VR2 and most likely won't. I feel that playing or should I saw driving in Cockpit view with wobble 2 and playing with the various display settings, such as removing the likes of tire wear, petrol MPH etc and just going with the feel of the vehicle around you and the train it is on can be full immersive and as intense in and of itself.
My set up is with a G923 wheel mounted to a 2.0 NextLevel Racing Stand and a $100 office swivel chair that is locked in. this is all mounted approx5 feet in front of an 85" Samsung 8k TV. With Turtle Beach 700 headphones, and if my wife is out of the house played through a sennheiser soundbar! Have not tried yet with racing gloves and helmet yet. Will add a fan blowing at me to simulate speed as well.
From a driving experience standpoint my senses are most attributed to what I am experiencing not just infant and observing the side and rear view mirrors in most cars, but what is further down the road and watching not the apex of the turn but beyond. Below I painstakingly snapped some photos on my iPhone to show visually what appears to be almost the same as the VR. Sure you can turn your head and see what's coming up on your side but so can pushing the look left or right button on the wheel. I am always looking behind me as well. How does that work in VR. Same way as you don't or can't in most modern seats be able to turn your head around.
I'm not saying that PSVR2 isn't the next best thing to being engulfed in the racing bug. But if you are using a controller rather than a wheel, first get the wheel and pedals and go from there.
My thoughts are this (PSVR2) would be great to have races in against others with same set up. Only way this would be fair. This is not easy at all in most cars. Am amassed at how real race car drivers do this. They have to know every inch of the track. Their car and life depends on it!
here we can hit reset. jmo
