Im thinking about buying a G25 this week, but im afraid after i buy it, something new will come out a week later. lol.

Im not really worried about the DFP GT, but what if a G26 comes out or something?

I can get it for about $200 in Canada? you guys think i should go for it?

Buy it. You won't regret it.

If you wait for the next bigger and better wheel, you'd never buy one.

I don't have a play seat either though, is that going to ruin some of the fun? or will a desk be enough...

any tips on how to setup the pedals on a desk once i get it?

Thanks for the help guys.

EDIT: This is the exact desk im using right now.

Buy it. My first wheel was a DFP, and what do you know once I bought it, few months later a G25 wheel came out. So each I saved up and next year I got a g25 and gave the DFP to my cousin just few week ago. Now I have the G25 for a year now and still loving it.

you should get the wheel it's great. changes the whole way you play racing games. i just got mine and have been playing need for speed like crazy. i don't even like need for speed but the wheel, clutch, and shifter make it a blast. as far as racing seats are concerned i have a playseat but if you don't want to spend that kind of money go look at the thread in here on cheap alternative cockpits. there are alot of good of ideas in there.

just like bevo stated, IT makes games so much enjoyable. Back when I play Gt4 with a controller I thought it was an awesome game, then I seen people using wheel, I saved up 150 dollars (or whatever it was back in the day) and got myself that DFP and wow, that game FELT like driving a real car and doubled the time I play in GT4. Its worth to get a wheel, especially G25.

Don't forget, once you set it up with GT5P, press TRIANGLE ( black button on top on the shifter) to start manual CLUTCH, works only once you are racing, and when screen says START.

The G25 is definitely a wheel you won't regret purchasing. I find it fantastic.

I picked mine up about 3-4 weeks ago. Initially i hated it as it was much more difficult to control but with practice(about 1-2 hours per night) i feel i am starting to get the hang of it. I restarted GT5p and i'm about half way through and loving it. I think restarting gt5p helps as the cars are that bit slower and a bit easier to handle.

havent dared to try to use the clutch and shifter yet as i'm struggling for a sturdy enough table.

So IMO buy it you wont regret it(just be prepared for the other half to call you a geek for a couple of weeks!!!)

Using two inch pvc and a free go kart seat from a friend, the benefits of racing karts, I was able to make a fairly inexpensive cockpit. I estimate that even with having to buy the seat it could be recreated for somewhere between $100 to 150. I am a dad to four and will become a grand-dad in about five or six weeks so I have tried to be economical(read cheap) in how I have done things. With that in mind I got the GT wheel and not the G25. Thought I might be a little let down but not in the least. So what I am saying is that if you have the extra cash go with the G25 but don't be shy about checking out the GT wheel should your finances be like mine.
