Tuning: Yes or no?

That's what I usually try to do. I'm pretty good at letting off early enough to keep from hitting someone, but there's always that one-time where I'll forget and practically lock them up trying to avoid hitting someone. This happened last night following cicua. Thankfully he made his entry into turn 1 just before I got to him, avoiding a catastrophe. :p

It isn't easy to be right on the bumper of another car for many laps without having a tap or two. You and Cicua did an amazing job and kept it clean. I tried my best to do the same. I learned from the best :sly: Cant believe we spent the whole 1st stint so close and we were actually pulling away from the rest of the pack. EPIC! 👍

I haven't seen the replay, but I believe something happened in turn 1 at the start of the race?

Edit: Just checked on something since we were talking about it before. If you look at the total times for each race from yesterday, mixing the two divisions would not have worked. 1st place from D2 would have been 9th overall.

I always step out of the draft right before the brake zones. If you stay behind them too long you'll overshoot the braking point. I love SSR5, just have to get some practice in there. So I'll be on a lot this week, if you find me online- lets have at it.
Go ahead and add me. I'll be in my lounge a few times this week to get the setup right.

As for the draft, I still remember the lap RT went around me with fresh tires and I was with the old hards. I turned the wheel at T10 braking earlier to compensate and the car decides not to turn and I end up using the asphalt on the side.

Every time I get behind someone, it's like I lose all front downforce. I'm getting tired of dealing with this all the time, to be honest. :ouch:

Given that I started in the back, I saw everything.

Wardez got a lousy start and I got blocked behind him so it got dicey at T1. Aliens braked late and hit Litchi in the rear which didn't do much except he all but spun out exiting. The big incident was at the hairpin at T6 where Litchi went a little wide exiting 100R and was trying to move to the right to set up the entry. Unfortunately, GV had his nose there and got nicked to the grass and spun. Litchi pulled over soon after that. Then, CSL went wide at T10 and was sideways so I had to swerve to avoid him.

So yeah, my first lap was pretty eventful but that meant the front pack got away and Wardez got just far enough ahead that I couldn't draft him.

^You're right, the draft ruins your grip on the front end. Steering is washed out. I'm not sure how true this is to real life, but from watching racing it doesn't seem the draft washes out your front end to the extent that GT5 does. I think some aspects are exaggerated a bit in the game, but it's still pretty close for a console platform.

Normally I drive ok in slipstreame maybe its because im used to being behind .

I know that it does happen but it affects me disproportionately. I like to induce throttle oversteer on exit but under the draft, it simply does not work. :ouch:

That sounds about right though doesn't it?

Maybe you're right, since D2 was a slower qualifying room. Edit: Except most of that room didn't Quali.

I think the only way to test it, would be to qualify everyone then split them up into two divisions based on even & odd qualifying times. (D1 = 1, 3, 5, 7, etc / D2 = 2, 4, 6, etc)

Technically speaking, it's impossible to test for room differences that way. You could get an idea, but there will always be that variance of a few seconds, so I don't see it happening.

Handles like a dream for me. I didn't get any "solid" laps, but hitting the wall on the final exit I ran 1:18.3xx, so I imagine around 17.5 will be top notch.

25 Ride Height? :dunce: 15 Springs? :scared: You like your rides hard and tall uh? That just sounded wrong, never mind.

Higher ride height increase acceleration grip, lower ride height increases cornering grip.

Higher spring rate actually increases accel grip too, only slightly.

Test: :D
Accel G

0 ride height, minimum sprig rate on rear, full DF: .91G
+65 rear ride height: .95G
Max rear spring rate: .96G

I forget the numbers, but down force also increases accel grip, at any speed as well.

You should watch the replay from yesterday from my view, and watch how I passed you on lap 11. I thought it was epic. :D

Now, you are just rubbing it in my face. I dont remember that, will look at it.

I'm going to try that right now in my lounge. Ran a 1:18 flat last night so it seems like I'm in the ballpark...for now at least.
Eh, exit grip = my right foot. :p
...except while I'm under the influence of the draft. Then, it's my right foot, no grip, release foot, wait until grip returns, right foot, lose grip again, repeat as required. Then, rant about it in the GTP forums.

You know something a few of you might try is not using lower gears when you don't need them. I noticed this while watching the replay. Might help with traction issues...

Change the sway bars and drop the rear to 20 and you would have my exact set-up on sheet 1 :)
I will do some laps later on.

I noticed that you are going very low revs, way below the powerband, on exits. Obviously a good way to preserve tyres but how you get speed from that I do not know.

I use a close gearing to always stay around the 7-8000 rpm powerband, and I use 1st in several places. Just suits my taste.

Curiously it also mean that I burn fuel faster, I lost maybe 5 kg more towards the end. Not a big deal but not a disadvantage either.

Then I must live in bizarro world, then. My car turns even LESS using a higher gear. In fact, I modify my gearing to keep the car at high RPM's at certain corners to help the car turn.

Oh, and just ran a 1:17.7 but I'm still tinkering with setups.

This track likes to make you slide. ;) A LOT compared to Fuji.

Peak power is at 7300 rpm, pretty much dead center between gear changes.

But this car does have a very meaty torque band respectively, So running as low as even 4K won't hurt you much.

I just did some tests, and this car's pretty amazing.
Dead stock, all settings default, except full aero, and top speed set to 249mph, this thing tops out at 207.0mph.

Compare that to GT500's most aerodynamic car, the YMS Supra, which running 498 (+1)HP, tops out at 191.9mph.
Crazy stuff.
