RT, I know you have shortened the gap between yourself and I, but by how much? You dropped to 12th, and from there how far behind were you from me? I want to know just to see if my pace was that slow compared to yours. I didn't push the car 100% as it wasnt necessary to risk it.

At some points I was as much as 50 seconds behind the lead, not sure if it was you. At the end there I got to within 11.5 seconds but you started to stretch it again, so I figured I was happy with 3rd and just clicked off laps at a safe pace. When I noticed I was catching outlaw, I picked it up a tad, and the lapped car helped with that. There's no way I would have caught you.

I might have to drop this series as I just realized another one I am in has the same time.

Might.

Race started okay but oh geez, every car in Gran Turismo that I drive pushes so horribly under draft conditions. Of course, that mean I lost Nepalli and Wardez but I was far enough ahead that no one could really trail me. With a med-hard-med strategy, I stopped at the end of 13 and I want to say 26. I babied the tires the last stint all I could, knowing that after 12 laps, I got uncontrollable wheelspin and I was doing okay until I saw RT coming up. I still had a bit of tires left so I pushed it a little, hoping he wouldn't catch my draft in time. I caught up to GV the second to last lap and he tried pulling over but I'll admit I lost 2nd right there. Just caught him at the worst possible spot. My tires were gone and that was that. Still, a podium finish isn't bad although that's probably the best I'll do all season.

Oh, and damn you again, Jason! You and your ungodly tire wear! :p

50? :scared: I led the whole race, only dropped from the lead when pitting. You shaved off a lot of time from me. You probably would have won if you didn't have that problem at the beginning. I never got into a situation where I needed to push my car too much, as I wanted to save tires as much as I could. It worked. 👍

Well, keep in mind (and to my surprise) pitting took a whopping 37-38 seconds. :scared:

I think I did a very good job today, that is, of showing how low practice and zero pit strategy will leave you worm food around here.

Started on hards = good.
Pit on lap 6?!?!?! Dunno wtf I was thinking, definitely dumbass!
Pit on 17, cause I was already irritated, I get grumpy quickly when tired.
Put hards on @ 17, cause I was too tired to try calculating, and the car was 🤬 me off. = Just dumb as hell.
Put mediums on once the hards were killed by a spin, angry burnout, and 13 laps, on lap 30.
Cruised to the finish, except with 1 lap left I caught Eddie, and he was clearly without grip, thought he might get me anyway since passing was so hard to do here, but luckily for me he spun exiting the last turn of the second to last lap, giving me a cruise to 6th.

I consider myself very lucky to have nabbed 6th today, so I can't complain too much, all things considered. Kicking myself for suggesting SSR5, which I love offline, but apparently hate online.

Edit: BTW, my "nap" lasted 4 hours, and even still I could have slept another 6. :D Going to bed for another 7 pretty soon.

I was just disappointed with RT claiming 2nd. If he had stayed 3rd, I would be tied up with him on standings, assuming I got the math correct . Oh btw where are those standings Mule? :D

Simple really, smooth inputs and don't turn the wheel more than you have to. Keep a light right foot when needed = good tire wear. Takes a bit more concentration to get it right, but it's worth it in the long run. I wish GT5 had the little steering wheel graphic in the replays like old GT's had so that you could study someone else's steering inputs...

Yup, tire wear is 99% driver, 1% tune.
Not that I did good with tire wear at all today, but I plan to next week. :trouble:

It's Le Mans, tires wont matter much. Even I was able to do 3 laps on Mediums at Le Mans today without problems. You just have to make sure you don't lose the train.

Believe me, I've been watching what you're doing and...I'm just not getting results. In fact, in the last stint, I was very careful with throttle, braking, and steering and I got maybe an extra lap off the tires and you saw how junk my car was at the end.

I will say that even when I hold the wheel perfectly straight while turning, it feels like the car is "see-sawing" the track as though something in the suspension's broken. Have no clue what's causing it but it's probably not helping me with wear.

I probably will. That happened to me with the Elises and the race was a disaster for me. That and you know how much I complain about the stupid, stupid aero push I get with the draft. Yeah, I'm not looking forward to this. :ouch:

Yeah but, how many laps did you have on those tires at that point?

I ran, I believe, ~12 laps on the Hard compound at the beginning of the race, then around 10-12 laps on the Mediums the rest of the way. On my last stop, as cicua noticed, I still had a few laps on that set of tires, but we were coming up on 10 laps to go and I would have had to pit again, so I went ahead and pit anyway to get it over with.

Honestly that may have been a lap or two early now that I look at it because I was sliding around a bit at the end there too. I put a lot of effort into catching Aliens for 3rd and wore them out a bit.

3 laps at Sarthe on RM's sounds awful tbh.
Just considering me and Welsh ran 14 in Z06 RM's. (they were really dead though)

I know you're not saying 3 laps is all you can get, I'm just saying I expect RM's to go at least 6-8 laps, and RH's to make more like 12 reasonably.

Actually, I think I spotted you pitting around Lap 30 so that meant you had to do about 15 laps between the starting hards and the first meds. That meant you had about 11 Laps on your tires at the end and I had...14 or 15.

I gotta drop this series. Sunday's won't work for me. Sorry. My kid won't let it happen, he's too amped up. Hopefully we can get a series like this going for a weeknight or something.

If this is the real driving simulator and we hypothetically did a 24 hour race, we shouldn't even NEED to change tires after 10 laps. Just need to gas it up and go.

I did 3 laps but can do much more... I just stopped there. Im thinking of starting on hards, because if I can hang on to the draft then it will be a good strategy.

I'm fully aware.

But can you hold the draft through the final section?
Guess that's the question of the week, ain't?

Was planning on spending tonight updating OP's and making point sheets and taking pictures, but then I found out I'm working today and friday.

Looks like they'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I have 0 unless you gave me 12th even though I couldnt join the Fugi room .

I ran a few laps at Le Mans and already, I can see that the rears are going to wear down before the fronts. Got my time down to a 3:50.7 but if the Elise Enduro was any indication, that's too slow. The gearing is going to be guesswork unless I get some practice races in.

A quick note for anyone that wants me to Q them. It may be better in the future for a person to set up a public room and have me join in. That way, we can avoid any issues in case my Lounge feels less "grippy".

I've noticed that the physics feel different in my lounge. Probably best that all qualifying sessions are in a public room.

If the game would actually allow me to set one up and have others have the capability to join in. Always have "incompatible host" come up. :grumpy:

I can be a host and not have issues IF someone else creates the room first and then leaves. Sound ridiculous but that's the way I'd rather do it from now on.

Oh, and I watched the replay just now and it finally dawned on me that you stopped three times. Now I feel somewhat better. Should have pushed the car for 10 whole laps rather than baby it for 13-15. :dunce:

I've never found a difference between lounge and lobby personally, but I prefer everyone do qualifying in the same type of room just in case the said differences are real at times or for different players.

Anyone that wants to qualify shouldn't really have a complaint for having to make a room, so it works for me.

Did you think I only stopped twice?

All I know is that I was testing the GT4 cup cars for my endurance race in my lounge and the car handled funky. Switched to a public room and they were okay. Not sure what was happening.
