I've got a load of images that I need to put a watermark on. I only have Paint Shop Pro v7 on my laptop and I don't think it can do a batch process adding a watermark and saving. I'll check when I get home from work but it would seem that only PSPv8 onwards can do it.

I've had a quick google and there are a few programs that can do exactly what I need.

2 questions. Has anyone got any recommendations on how best to do it, or on what program to use? And are any of these batch watermarking programs free to use? All the ones I found were shareware at best.

I use gimp and the best way i can see to do this is the following:

Open the picture in your image progam and make a new layer the same size as the picture but in full transparency then add the watermark logo, set the water mark to be the top layer, set the opacity then save.

Layer 1: Watermark(set opacity/transparency to 30% or a value you like)
Layer 0:Backgound

Here is a quick example
I took your avatar and added text(watermark) and set opacity at 30% then saved as a png.

Note: If you want to retain layers save in a format that supports it as well as the png, jpg format that you will need.

I know how to put a watermark on, but I'm really looking for something that'll put the same watermark on 50 images without any intervention from me. It'll be very time consuming to do them individually.

Edit: Something like this. I'd pay for it if I must, but free would be better.
