Snake blows up trying to eat alligator. Right in my backyard, cool:

Stright from the headlines:

I hear that there is lots of them in S FLA, and that they are not a natural species. So while the alligator may have been eaten, the python doesn't look like it did much better.

That is by far the coolest thing I've seen all night, and its pretty sad because its like 11 and well I'm pretty tired. I guess thats why I laughed so hard and woke my girlfriend up.

Damn, I agree thats about the coolest thing I've seen all night.....I feel sorry for those two animals.

Damn! And I thought that I was going to split my gf when I.......... Nevermind........ Forget that.

You gotta give the snake some credit for trying.

Yeah. If you read the article you notice it says that the Python's head is missing.

Well, it doesn't say it in that article, but earlier in the day when I first read it like 6 hours ago, it stated that the Python's head was missing. You can sorta see that from the picture.

I feel sorry for the Python too.

I have nothing against Alligators mind you. They're dangerous and all, but if I leave them alone, they leave me alone.

It's just sad to see that huge creature dead like that. If it had of died in the battle, that may have been different - but to win what could only have been a titanic fight, manage to get the thing in it's mouth, only to have it's body burst open... I feel sorry for the Python. He (or she) would have thought the hard bit was over.

I guess this is just a classic case of its eyes being bigger than it's belly...

I guess aligators don't disolve in python stomach acid as well as 'softer' creatures do!

During lunch break, I heard about it on the radio. Thought it was pretty cool, but the picture is even better. I do wonder why the head was missing though.....

I didn't think a snake would ever try to take on an alligator or crocodile.. I'm scared, who knows what they'll do next.

In one of the UK's safari parks (can't remember which one) the Lions have been attacking Smart Cars!

Am I the only one that feels sorry for the alligator and no remorse for the python?

Alligators pretty much leave you alone, unless you provoke or scare them.

And Python's hunt you down and attack you in your sleep do they?

Have you ever ordered a huge meal at a Restaurant knowing that it is way more than you should eat? This reminds me of something like that, just on a lager scale (apparantly too large).

Coolest thing ever.

Rule #1 in life: Never try to eat anything larger than your head.

Stupid python didn't follow this simple rule and now he hasn't got a head (apparently it fell off).

Now i'm no scientist but surely it would've taken the python quite a while to get that much alligator into his mouth. Was the alligator asleep/stoned/hungover or something?

That'll learn it.

That's one hell of a python. Definately not that big around here although there could be, I just mistaked it for a house.

It reminds me of the Mr Creosote sketch in Monty Pyton's Meaning of Life. :D
