Does anyone want to tell them that electric cars are barely any more environmentally friendly than petrol ones?
They're much more environmentally friendly to run. Building a car is environmentally unfriendly to begin with though. Keeping an old petrol powered car on the road for a few more years will probably do less environmental damage than building a new car, petrol, diesel, electric, hybrid, or whatever.
Over the course of several years of usage any extra environmental damage done in the process of making an electric car should be more than made up for by the lack of emissions. Also, when used in cities, local air pollution is a major factor in the electric car's favour.
Ultimately the most environmentally friendly thing to do is to cut down on usage of private motor vehicles and walk, cycle, or use public transport instead. Boring, but sometimes reality is just like that.
As for the car, I'm sceptical of companies I've never heard of coming along and promising to build some amazing new car, especially in China, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now since this thing looks good, even if the two tone paint is a bit odd.
