Noob questions:

1) In simulation mode does qualifying put wear and tear on your car (tires, oil changes, etc.)?

2) IN simulation mode, do you guys typically qualify for a race or just start from last spot?

3)How many "practice laps" [read: qualifying laps] will you do before you are ready to race?

Thanks for the help. I love this game.

hm.. never checked abot qualifying putting any tire wear or oil.. have to check that out

2 i always start from last.. just because i can usually blow the competition away lol but of course i will go back when i've completed the game just for fun and have close competitions

3 .. i would guess 2 or 3, one warm up, then the qualify, it may be 3.. havent checked into qualifying (only had the game for like 3 weeks lol

1) Wear and tear is a factor in qualifying, but you get new tires when you start the race.

2) I never qualify unless it's a short race--even if the competition is really stiff, five cars in the way isn't usually too much of a problem. Especially for the long series, it's simply not worth the oil to qualify, either.

3) When I do qualify (as rare as it is), I usually just exit out as soon as I get the first spot.

Are you sure your name's not George W.? You wrote "strategery" instead of strategy! Anyway, Vapor's answer to number one is correct. The only series I usually ever attempt to qualify for is the F1 championship. Qualifiying is crucial to winning those races. I also end qualifying as soon as I get first place, or I end it if I know I can't qualify better than I did.

The reason I ask about the qualifying is that sometimes its easier to hold a car off than to catch him up by braking late. Braking late is a hair raising experience if you are trying to catch a faster more powerful car that will eat your lunch on turn exits.

I'm pretty sure the oil does wear in qualifying, I remember qualifying for on of the Formula GT races with the fuel lamp on and tyres do wear in Qualifying too.

You do use oil life in qualifying.
If the race is longer than 5 laps, I only qualify to check my settings. In some races you need to make sure you have enough top end to hold off the faster cars.
Especially, if you run Trial Mountain, then R246. R246 requires a higher top end due to the really long front straight. TM requires faster acceleration.
In the longer races, you need only to have good pit strategy (i.e: hard tires) to win. Now, you want tires soft enough for good handling, but hard enough to run 2-4 laps further than the competition.
