I got my 1.2 mile jump today doing quarry in the dump truck--what a stupid glitch.

How did everyone else get their big glitch jumps-- I wasn't even moving-- I dumped the explosives at the air field and it gave it to me along with an 1100 degree spin.

If this is the case, everyone might want to try getting out and back into the truck right before you dump the explosives--I'm thinking that the distance they give you is the distance from where you get into the truck to where you dump it--getting out and back in might reset the distance.

I finished quarry and didn't want to redo all of it since I hadn't saved since before I started and I didn't really find it very enjoyable (especially the last one)

If someone who hasn't done this yet does quarry soon, can they try this--- I believe its the 4th or 5th quarry mission--its very easy mission (you have to drive the truck from the quarry to your airfield and dump some explosives) but you might want to save right before so you can experiment with it. If you can reset this distance (by getting out and back into the truck) then I might redo all the quarry missions so I don't have the glitch jump in my stats.

I went ahead and moved one of my other saves (with storyline done but before this jump) to an open spot so I can still use stat shots for showing jump records and still have all areas of the map open--I just can't use my main save for jumps :banghead:

If someone is willing to try this in the next day or so, please let me know.

Thanks......Spuds.

I was doing that quarry mission and when I left the main road to drive onto the airstrip and dump the explosives, before I got to the marker to dump the explosives, a message came up with distance 1804m and rotation about 1000 degrees.

Darn, I was thinking you got it like me at the end when you dumped your load (hehe I said "Dump" and "Load")

Perhaps you need to get out every so often to reset the distance--- I'm still thinking its the distance from where you start the mission.

I know one other person who got this glitch jump--- has anybody done this quarry mission and NOT gotten the glitched distance jump??

Well I'm trying to think from a coding aspect, and I can't think of anything either. Just some sort of big stuff up, I would say. I couldn't think of any relation.

same thing happened to me.. where do you think i got the 1900 or whatever meter record hehe.. but it sucks that in order to try to get a jump record i'd have to start a new game from scratch :(

I haven't done anything (other then complete the quarry missions) since I got the jump glitch-- I think I might just redo all the quarry missions and save right before that one-- and either hope I don't get it (and redo it if I do) or maybe try getting out of the truck every so often and maybe this will reset the distance--

Hey Integra, do you remember exactly what you were doing when you got yours--- I was stopped and dumping the explosives and KM had just driven off the road-- were you near the air strip when you got yours too???

Spuds

I never even thought about doing the mission again. It was a really easy one too.

I'll just keep my digicam handy for doing stunts so I can just take pics of jump stats off the briefs screen.

maybe if you catch air at all with your truck, it glitches?

try to go REALLY slow and stuff.

You didn't read my post-- I was stopped and just dumping my load when I got it--- somehow the game is reading the dumptruck up in the air and I believe the distance it is registering is from the place you got into the truck--- when I redo this, I'm going to save right before I do this and maybe set that save aside to experiment with it.

Spuds.

How about taking any other vehicles down there, and driving around with those? Maybe it's the actual area. I'm thinking, as the Quarry is technically under sea level, it's glitching and reading it as they are in the air, some how, but only every now and then. When it realises it's not, it will read it as it is on the ground, and this may be how you are getting such big distances. But how I'm saying it, would be a Height Record, not a Distance Record.

Either way, I think it should be a good thing to test another vehicle down there, to see if it's the actual area, or the Dump Truck itself.

That mission both starts and finishes above sea level. You don't actually go into the quarry for it.

I'm betting its more likely the height CJ is off the ground in that truck (since he sits so high up) then the vehicle itself-- maybe the game registers it as a jump since he (CJ's body) was above a certain amount off the ground-- and then in certain places on the map, the ground is read a little closer to him and its close enough to register it as a landing and then the jump distance is displayed--- this is the only thing that makes sense to me-- thats why I think having him get out of the truck occasionally might reset the jump distance.....any thoughts on this???

The distance the jump is registering is probably the distance from where he got into the truck is why I think all that.

I'm just pulling this stuff out of my @ss so don't quote me or anything...

It sounds like an alright theory, but I thought there are other cars that place CJ just as high off the ground. But this all doesn't explain why they are getting a Distance statistic.

That's why I think we should test with another car/other cars, since I'm thinking it's a problem with the actual Quarry.

I can't remember any vehicles that are quite as high as the dump truck--but I could be wrong.

As KM stated though-- on that mission, you don't even enter the quarry-- you start by the building outside the quarry and end it at the Verdant meadows airfield.

If there is a problem with the location--it might just be the one little spot where CJ gets in the vehicle

For me--its in the past-- I went ahead and redid all the quarry missions and on that one, I saved right before and when I did it, I stopped and got out of the truck several times as I drove to the airfield including right before I drove off the road and right before I dumped--I saved at the airfield right after--- no problems this time--- I can honestly say-- I HATE THE QUARRY MISSIONS-- the last one sucks (I've done it several times)-- my game locked up after I finished the quarry so I had to do the last 2 over again (for the 3rd time)--- I've either dropped the body or bike or driven my truck in the water (total of at least 10 times)--- keep forgetting which button is the hand brake :banghead:

Its done now and I'm never going back.....

On my 2nd attempt, my truck rolled into the water after the bodies but I still got the mission complete message. Yay!

Oh Spuds. Same as every other GTA game.

What do you get (as a Reward) for completing the Quarry Missions? Also, does something get built?

i feel your pain.. i think i still have the last one left cause i got tired of it and never felt the urge to go back and finish it.. i'm way too far along now to go back and redo it, so i guess i wont be competing in the distance record unless i get a picture of the on-screen announcement :)

I get screwed up since you finish it by backing up on a hill sloped toward the water (you have to dump something in the water). So I have the view on side or rear trying not to back up too much, but far enough so I can dump the stuff in the water (or you fail)--- and since I'm pushing the reverse button, and my view is all messed up I get screwed up....its a long mission--everything up to then is pretty easy so you get flustered since you don't want to do it again.....drives me batty that I actually completed it 3 different times-- one with the glitch, once my game locked up before I saved, and finally the last time---+ all the times I screwed up right at the end
:grumpy: 👎 :dunce: :ouch: :yuck:   :indiff: :dopey: <-- I feel like that doing that mission.

Its an asset-- you get $2,000 a day if you go and collect it--- I didn't check but the dump truck and bull dozer are probably available there after it too.

yep, and $10,000 for completing it.. the dumper and bulldozer are located in the pit.. and you can go back and do it again to try and get a faster time :)

Don't you build something in the Missions? I heard that somewhere, but I know virtually nothing about the Missions.

No building... just do it. There are 7 missions. All are pretty easy to do (if you know how to work your handbrake). They take about 25-30 minutes

That bloody bulldozer confuses the hell out of me. I keep getting left and right confused for some reason and turning the wrong way. Why would it make me think I have to hit left to turn right? I don't know. I hate it.

KM.

Because it uses Rear-Wheel Steering. I also got this confused. But I guess it does it for you.

I would rather that I had to think in Rear-Wheel Steering terms.

Just like the forklift ( and in real life)-- just so you know, for forklifts-- in real life they make the steering so when you turn right, you turn to the right also--even though the the rear wheels are turned to the left---I get to operate forklifts at work occasionally--

it messed me up a little bit too though so don't feel too bad---

and on a related note I also occasionally operate cranes (not like the kind in the game) including one with a electro magnet--- I'm pretty sure that the magnet would rip the roof off a car rather then pick it up.

Spuds

That explains it. When I turn right, the rear wheels turn right, but the vehicle turns left. No wonder I go the wrong direction half the time. The forklift gave me the same problem.

KM.

Well, in real life, I'd rather that when you turn the steering wheel right, that the actual car turns right. That would be very strange and annoying if it was the other way around. However, in video games, I don't mind too much.
