I have decided to start learning 1 mile distance tuning, not really seen many people speak about 1 mile times round here so no idea what times are good or bad.

Will be using this thread to document my personal progress on the hunt for a 21 second mile car, I'm only going to be using street cars, and I'm going to try and leave the veyron as a last choice option if I havn't broke the 21 second barrier in a few months (Though I'm not sure what time the veyron actually does yet and if any car can even break in under 21 seconds)

Feel free to post any times you have if you wish, and if enough are posted I will sort out a leadboard for it.

Attempt number 1: Toyota Supra RZ '97

First entry attempt just to set a base line really, I didn't expect this supra to get close to the 21 second mark, but with 725BHP and 1228kg but it show's me the kind of power / weight figures I will need.

Time: 24.388 @ 212MPH

If you stretch a bit the top speed , basiacly it's a top gear time. When SSRX came out , I sed to do the same , tune for 1 mile , use on top gear.

I actually tuned this for someone else, a couple months back. Had a lot of fun doing it.

I'm sure a car with a little more top end, like the ACR or Enzo could hit 21's.

Attempt number 2, Nissan 300zx 2seater (Z32) '89
With 758BHP and the same weight as the supra 1228kg, I was hoping this would perform a little better, but the first 3 gears are pretty awful on it, a bit of bog in 1st, a short 2nd, and some shift lag into 3rd. I think wit hsome fine tunning this could get into the 24.39X range but it wasn't a nice car to tune so i'm moving on.

Time: 24.404 @ 213MPH

Edit: Nice time seanneedscar added you to the records list, I will be taking my time before I get into the cars in viper/enzo HP range, as starting from my baseline supra @725Hp and will slowly work up from there with slightly more powerfull cars each time.

Attempt number 3, Trying something a little different this time, a ligtweight car with slightly less power.
The Spyker C8 Laviolette '01 rolls off the dyno @ 628BHP and weighs in @ 910kg
Was a test to find out how important the power to weight ratio is needed, and I'm surprised it did this well there is prob a little bit more to squeeze out of this one, but I now know I will be needing much more power on my quest for the 21 second mark.

Time: 24.799 @206MPH

I will be next moving into the 800HP + range.

This seems like fun. When I get done updating battlefield 3 I'll tune some cars for the mile. Anything really different suspension wise from 1/4?

👍 So far my suspension settings are kinda similar to the 1/4 from my testing, just less toe really i've been using ranges between -30front with +20rear upto -60front with +40rear, Some cars like high front and rear, some like low front high rear, for springs min front max rear seems to be the best each time.
But i'm still new to this the more I test I could find out my orginal settings were very wrong

And nice swara the more the better! 👍 Though I don't think any FF's will break the 21 second barrier i'm hunting for , but will be interesting to see what times they do achive.

Sounds very interesting, in gonna hop on the bandwagon as well, FF of course, to see how close they can get.

Attempt number 4 and moving into the 800BHP range, starting off with the Buick Special with 831BHP and 1135kg, My Buick was a 0mile one and I don't think it was pre broken in from the OCD so I may put some miles on this and re test again if gets some more power. This car has a lot of wheelspin of the line.

Time: 24.000 @211MPH

Attempt number 5 with some fiery Itilian heat, the Ferrari 599 with 838BHP and 1280kg, again mine is a 0 mile car I know this can gain some more power will re test again once fully broke in.

Time: 23.811 @212MPH

I said I was gonna try with an FF so I tried with the Accord coupe v6 cause it has more displacement to pull thru, never done this before so tell me if it has more on it and I'll keep going at it.

Lol, I should've use the SRT, I'm going for that now!!! But ill first rerun the Accord.

You have to average 171 miles a hour, so you have to be at around 85 miles a hour come the quarter mile marker, assuming a linear acceleration.

How can you even average that out?

And from where are you getting this calculation?

It's not right, he just used a linear acceleration, didn't take the air resistance and all the other factors that decrease acceleration after some speed is reached into consideration. It doesn't help understand anything. If it was right, then my 1k Enzo(just tranny streched a little more) would do a mile in less than 13 seconds, asuming that i reach around 169 at the 400m mark.

Right.

These are interesting calculations all the more.
