Sorry if this is a repost...

I don't know what's going on with the 2 players arcade mode in GT4. When I use my own car from my garage, the car handles differently in a bad way, and doesn't work well. It only happens on 2 players arcade mode, but not in gran turismo mode.

Is there any way to fix this problem?

-Thanks

Two possibilities --

1) If I recall correctly, 2-player mode disables TCS and ASM. If your car usually has TCS turned on, it'll be harder to control.

2) Some GT4 players believe 2-player mode uses an inferior version of the physics engine, and that it plays differently. However, the differences would likely be too minor to compel you to ask about them here.

Check your options for 2 player mode and make sure the TCS and ASM settings are set to your liking.

Not meaning to push this further off-topic... but I've been wondering about #2... I never use arcade mode, and when I booted it up last night to let my brother in law and his cousins play, I took a turn with the Ford Focus on N3's (one of my favorite combos) for a five-lapper.

I thought it felt arcadey, but then I'm used to driving in practice mode... no tire wear... so I did a quick race in sim mode for comparison...

With tire wear in sim mode, "Quick Race" felt exactly the same as "Single Race" with tire wear in arcade mode... what's up with that?

There is definitly a difference in how the cars handle in arcade mode compared to GT mode. You don't so much notice it with default set ups, but when you're using customized cars there is a difference of about 1-1.5 seconds difference around trial mountain for example.

And no it's not the lack of TCS and ASM, I dont use them in GT mode.

I don't know about the game physics, but one thing I notice is the graphics are really, really, really bad. If you want to see for yourself, go do a two player race on fuji speedway 2005 GT.

Every time I turn on TCS at arcade mode to battle my brother, it turns off automatically. We would run say, two laps at Nurb, and then Ill go back to the options and check. Even though Ive set the TCS and ASM on, when I check back it says No driving aids are turned on. This is accompanied by excessive wheelspin in even the slightly powerful cars. I hate it. Me and my brother both always spin out of control. Any way to solve this?

Ive done the following, so sum up simply.

1. turn the aids on.
2. run a race accompanied by lots of wheelspin.
3. come back to the options menu to check.
4. its always turned off, so we turn it back on.
5. runs a race again, accompanied by lots of wheelspin.
6. comes back to see, its still turned off.
7. I give up.

Help! Thanks.

There's no option to run a customized car in 2 player mode with driver aids on.
It's as plain and simple as that, also you might notice that there's no option to run sports cars on racing tyres either.

doing an experiment, a friend of mine's Nismo 400r had racing s/s in use and my Nismo 400r had sport softs (both in GT mode) since we all assumed that was the only tire you could use in 2P arcade mode. His car was about 10 seconds faster than my car no matter which of us drove it. The game apparently doesnt tell the user or acknowledge it, but the tires that a car is fitted with in GT mode affects its use in Arcade mode.

* Simple Experiment: Take your car of choice and equip Sport Soft tires in GT mode, exit and run a Time Trial in Arcade mode (be sure to select Sport soft tires from the menu that pops up.) Record the time or remember it. Go back into GT Mode and change the tires to racing soft tires, exit again and run the same time trail (be sure to select the Sport Soft tires from the menu) this lap should be significantly faster than the previous lap. This should also prove true if you are in a 2P race scenario.

In order to race a 2P Battle and have drivings aids, you need to do the following...

1) Select any car from the normal arcade cars (not your own garage) & select the driving aids you want along with the AT/MT & tires

2) When you're back on the "Start Race" screen, select "change car" and pick the car you want from your own garage

It's kind of a pain, but it works.

At the top of the screen it says something like:

By Manufacture 1 2 By Era

The 1 & 2 are the garages from memory card 1 & 2.
