I bought Winning Eleven Proevolution 2007 last Thursday. I played it over the weekend and it worked great. No problems. I put it in the PS2 last night and it doesnt work. I reset the PS2 a couple times just to see if that was the problem but it still doesnt work. So thinking maybe its the laser, I put in a different game. Thats works fine. No problems there. So just to see if something weird is going on I put WE2007 back in just to see whats happens. The PS2 still doesnt recoginze it. The disc has a couple very minor scratches (nothing that my other games dont have). So I dont know what happened. Should I just return the game for another one or what?

Thanks

Well more than likely its your laser. Can you try the game in one of your mates PS2's? If not have you tried more than one game in yours? Also were both games black on the bottoms or are they different colors? The silver ones are CD based and the others are DVD based. I don't believe they even make the CD ones anymore because of file sizes and all but my PS2 had a hard time reading those, but not the DVD ones at all.

I tried a few other games and they all worked fine. The game in question is CD based (silver bottom). It just seems to be this game for whatever stupid reason.

Maybe it is different in Oregon and Alabama, but in New York (and, I'd imagine the rest of the country) CD based games are blue bottomed, and DVD based games are silver bottomed.
It sounds like a problem wiht the game rather than your PS2.

If you tried other games that are of the same base then it does sound like the disk and not your PS2. Game disc format information is valuable since people with PS2 laser problems (very common on earlier models) can often read only regular DVDs and not CDs or dual layer DVDs (which require the laser to focus at a different wavelength and/or depth).

I'd doubt it, the CDs are Blue and DVD's are Silver here in Australia aswell.

I think that's a DVD. There's a lot of DVD's that refuse to work in certain ps2's. GT4 is an example.
