Question about banned users

I glanced at the online users list, and I noticed a guy who I remembered seeing banned the other day. It showed him as online and browsing with a mobile, and I don't understand how that's possible. Is it that his account is banned only from posting, but he can still be signed in with it? Also the banned users log is missing quite a few users, any reason why? Thanks in advance

Banned means you can't log into the site and do anything.

The staff bans quite a few users, including bots, so they usually only post the most notable and/or interesting examples.

Some people are banned for a day, a week, month, forever. You know? Some are on the logs if you look for 'em.

If someone has made 6 posts and was a complete tool, we're not likely to post that we've banned them as no one would even know who they were.

Also, this question was asked in the Premium section last month. This was my reply there:

Last night I had a look at the infractions handed out in the last month that resulted in a baanning. They were all either spambots, returning banned members, users no one cared enough about to post (ie: low post count/not well known) or temporary bans. Nothing to report.

We don't just make 🤬 up, you know.

I've noticed that the names of the banned users are now italicized.

You can now spot them more easily in the "Current Active Users" because of this.

I don't believe they have been, nor ever will be, italicized. The only italicized names you should see are Jordan, Famine, Duke and Der Alta.

I think it was just a temporary effect of the site being updated to its latest version, GTP 11. I noticed the same thing over the last couple of days, but it appears to be fixed now.
