Question about Drift Setups not found in FAQs or guides anywhere.

I'm eager to learn how to do this like the pros do but I'm having trouble and yes, there are guides and FAQs all over creation. But I have a somewhat more specific question I don't think was put up anywhere that I'm aware of. If it was, oops.

I'm without the steering wheel and am not putting much faith in buying one for awhile yet so in the mean time I want to learn if possible with the joysticks on the control. I'm presently using Bryan Heitkotter's FC3S RX-7. The setup he posted in his FAQ. But he uses the steering wheel, I believe, so what I want to ask is, does anyone have any setups for cars that were more with the analog in mind?

I'm most interested in setups for the following cars (if possible):
Mazda FD3S RX-7 Type-RS.
Mazda FD3S RX-7 Type-RZ.
Mazda FC3S Savanna RX-7 Infini III.
Honda S2000.
Honda S2000 Type-V.
Lexus IS300.
Toyota Altezza RS200.
Nissan S15 Silvia Spec-R Aero.
Nissan S13 Silvia 2000cc K's.
Nissan 180SX Fastback.

And any of the production Lancer Evolutions.

If anyone would share their setups with me and perhaps a link to a video that has the steering, gas and brake, included.. that would help immensely.

:irked: And on a side note, have you ever wanted to just kill the game because you want a certain prize car and it seems intent on giving you every single car but the one you want? It's doing that to me. I want the Sunburst Yellow RX-7 Type-RZ from the Japanese Cup and I have run it, no lie, 20 times or more and it has given me a dozen Lancer Evolution IV's, a few FTO's, and a dozen Impreza Wagons. I am losing faith I will ever get this car. It's so frustrating. I thought rather than add another thread, I'd just add my little rant here. Doo~on't mind me folks.

welcome to gtp and look at my sig if u want any settings
and we have those settings in the depot, u just have to look

I just skimmed through several of them for the cars that I want and I see no one who specified whether it was for the analog or steering wheel and I was looking for people who are using the joystick like me.

r u talking about the controller
well it works for both of them(wheel or controller) im also a controller user also :D

Yes, I talking about the control, the joystick features are called analog as far as I know. That is why I was asking for anyone who might be using them like me rather than try all the setups in the FAQs for all the cars. But that's not all I asked about, I asked if anyone had videos with the gas and brake on so I can see that too. I can see no reason why the joysticks and rolling the steering wheel would not work very similar but it might be easier if someone setup the car with the joysticks in mind in the first place. But I wouldn't know since, of course, I'm trying to learn.

Can't help you with controllers, most of those setups should work both ways...

As for the yellow RX-7 RZ.... run the race and get 1st every race. Save on the 4 race. Now keep reloading and quitting the 5th race.

I use the d-pad, don't like the joysticks.

YOU USE THE CONTROL'S D-PAD?! SERIOUSLY?! :scared: That's quite impressive considering I tried that and it met with utter disaster. But I'm using the original PSX control with my PS2 because the pressure sensitive PS2 control .. well .. the car would not turn, period, I felt totally out of control of the car even in normal driving when I went for the first few license tests. I thought it was the game but when I went back to my PSX control, it felt alot better instantly.

Tasadar24: You can save the actual game mid-league like that and save on the 4th race, then win the 5th and if you don't get the car you wanted, reload the data and pick up from the 4th race in the league again?

If you get first in the first 4 races, you don't even have to win the last one, or even do it at all.

Also, the setups should work universally, what matters is STYLE. Take for instance Rezz. He uses an odd setup with E-brake. Me I use no setup(I always screw the car up) and my style uses a mix of everything.

practice and let the force be with u

Thanks to Ryen49 we had some sideways action going, albeit very slow and very clumsy on my part but atleast it didn't turn out like my previous attempts which were: going sideways, can't control it, spin out. Or: going sideways, can't stop it, off into the dirt, smack into wall.

 So thanks alot Ryen49! And Tasadar24: Retiring is not an option. I have an 100% win ratio (and yes I am guilty of using the reset button when I got in over my head a few times or just said 'screw this' for some reason) and retiring would mess that up. So I'll just kill the 5th race over and over. One race beats the heck out of doing 5 of them. Thanks for your help also, I thought that save thing was for saving replays or something, though I did wonder. -- But just you watch though, the game will just go on giving me every car but the RX-7 just like it has been doing to me thus far.

Oh, and battle_stage, I may not know much about drifting in the games just yet but based on what I have found out thus far, I am amazed you can use the D-pad, that's just .. wow. I was able to do that in GT1 but that was it. Infact, I did most of my racing with semi-drifting and power-sliding the car around all the corners. They seemed to break traction so easily anyway, it just seemed natural to do that to control the cars and it was easy after I got the hang of it.

ON A FINAL NOTE:
I do not know how much this happens with any of you and I don't want to prolong this thread into another conversation about it or anything but I thought I would toss in. I was in the Stars and Stripes (I think it's called? Too lazy to check right now) in my monster of a Viper GTS and the Shelby Cobra behind me did the most perfect text-book drift. It began over-steering at the entrance and went sideways, I swore it was gonna spin for sure, but it banked the tires heavy and slid outta that corner like a pro. Sadly, against the awesome power of my Viper GTS, it just disappeared in my rear-view mirror anyway, but it was really something none-the-less.

Well, that about wraps it up for this thread, thanks you guys! :D

Yes, I appreciate being able to see it though I think that is the worst music ever for a drifting video but that's me. You're nuts. I loathe driving on Cote d'Azur, but drifting there? Not on your life! You deserve praise for that one.

But now, I'm done with this thread, heh. Later all! I'm gonna log out finally and everything for tonight. :D

same here after i was testing out a 180sx and a 86, i thought it was fun and challenging
