Hello people,

since I'm going to buy a wheel in a couple of weeks. I wanted you to ask what the advantages and disadvantages are of the Porsche GT3RS and the CSR wheel.
I'm on a budget of about 250€ (~320$).
I've only playing on a gamepad so far(and a little on a Logitech Momo Racing wheel) and been able to play with a DFGT at a friend lately.
Another friend buys the T500RS so I will be able to test the three paddels and breaking resistance.
So which one of these will be a good choice? I want to play games like GTR2 on the PC and GT5 on the PS3.

Thanks in advance.

CSR has Xbox comparability, if you don't need that then save some money with the GT3.

Money saved could go towards the CSP pedals which are quite a bit more than the standards but worth it IMHO.

Can't go wrong either way though.

Very helpful. The CSR is a bit cheaper than the GT3 though. What about the shift paddle? The CSR looks better there.

GT2 is more expensive then CSR, not the GT3.

GT3 is a little cheaper than CSR.

GT2 and CSR are both compatible with XBox, GT3 is not.

I own both CSR and GT3 wheels.
CSR has much better paddle shifters than either the GT2, and GT3.
CSR seems to run cooler because its cooling vents have mesh with larger openings.
Personally I prefer the looks and feel of the GT2/GT3 wheel rim, but I think the CSR turns a bit faster because its rim is lighter.

If you only run on a PS3 then go for the GT3. But the CSR and GT2 will probably have higher resale value if you sell down the road because of XBox compatibility.

CSR is alot newer and should therefore be a bit better, although they should mechanically be quite the same. Its wheel rim is lighter and wheel should be a bit quicker and paddle shifters are said to be better. As for GT3, its wheelrim just feels so good in your hand thanks to alcantara and it certainly looks better.

EDIT: JogoAsobi was faster than me.

Thanks Jogo and bumer.

So the CSR will be a really good choice for all the matters.

The CSR is cheaper than the GT2?
What witchcraft is this?

Thank you for all your help so far.

Has the GT3RS really the CSR Elite pedals ? The CSR has only the normal pedals. What do you suggest slightly better pedals or wheel?

Both are compatible on same platforms and according to fanatec GT2 is higher quality wheel.

Oh, thought the CSR had improved electronics, which possibly could have put it more expensive or at least on par with the GT2.

@OP.

Every thing is modular with fanatec. So the CSR having elite pedals is perfectly plausible. Depends on wether you order them or not.
Standard pedals have had a chequered history, just google it lol.

I've not used the standards myself but I'm out of touch with the whole wheel thing. Things may have improved on that front.

Nobody has been able to tell what improved electronics mean. I also vote for csr elite pedals. To me they are the best pedals fanatec currently makes.

But if you're going for the csr be wary as there have been many reports of poor build quality, the leather peeling off etc.
Personally I'd go for the gt3 because IMO it looks better and has proven to be reliable over the years.

You mean GT2?

Really? Do you, or have you owned one?

I have personally had 3 fail, each one for different reasons and replaced under warranty.

and 1 was delivered defective so I am on number 5 now.
