My wheel just came in and I am going home this weekend to get it from school. Before I have it completely setup I just wanted to ask how much abuse the g27 can handle when on FFB of 10. I don't want to burn the insides out in the first week is why I am asking. Also whats the difference between running a FFB of 10 vs. something like a 7 or 8? Is it that noticeable? Thanks.

Hmm, I haven't played in a while so I can't remember clearly. But there is difference between 10 to 7/8, but not that much I believe. However, if you do compare it to something like 7 to 4 or under, you can definitely tell. I settled with 5-6 just for the sake of keeping the thing last for more than 3-4 years. To me, FFB is already way better than no FFB so just a bit of it it good enough. Plus, it gets tiring if you play a long time if the FFB is set high. Just remember not to set it to 10 if you're going to do an endurance race. Take it from me, i'm exhausted after the 4 hour Nurb.

BTW, if you're going to take it to your dorm or college apartment, you might not want to set it to 10 as it will see abuse from another people, unless of course you hide it from other people.

To be blunt if it cannot handle max settings right from the get go then you get a warranty replacement.
Logitech have made the product and guarantee it's quality , so we therefore have to assume the device will stand up to standard race sim usage.

In practice the mid range setting is going to be more realistic I should think so I doubt you will have any issues.

In reality if you can't handle ffb at 10 then you have no idea what it's like to drive a real car on a track and you're extremely weak. FFB 10 is still really easy to turn and handle compared to real cars on a track. Go to your local karting track and go out for a spin to get an idea.

How about reading the post instead of just trying to insult? :dunce:

He is talking about burning out a motor in his wheel, not his strenth. L2R.

I agree with some others, you got it to have fun, and I doubt it will "burn" out, crank it up.

I've used mine for 50% drifting and 50% grip driving since GT5P and i have to admit it seems to have shown some age.

Deadzone is definitely apparent, but i'm not sure if it's increased or just worse in gt5 relative to other games. More importantly FFB strength seems to have decreased and i sometimes feel like i'm overpowering the motor when i countersteer. It may also be partly psychological since i've been concerned about the wheels health from the get go since it gets alot of abuse from drifting.

I would say if you are concerned about longevity then tone down the FFB strength, especially if you intend to drift. I end up decreasing the strength if i know i'm going to spend a play session primarily drifting but you definitely want to turn it back up again for regular racing to get as much feedback as possible. I would think it will be perfectly fine with high FFB if you aren't drifting.

Yeah enough with the insults, you didn't even read the post.

I've read somewhere on this forum that even 1 is comparable with real life driving.
I don't have a wheel yet but I can advise you to set it under 5 - gives a realistic feel and you don't abuse the motors.
I've read many posts about how F1 or X2010 destroyed wheels and that shows how you must pay attention to the FFB strength.

Not trying to thread jack but how does changing the feedback on the g27 work. I have read on other threads that changing the ffb setting for the dfgt and pro wheels does nothing for the g27.
