Don't own PS3
ok, I am not familiar with internet connection on consoles, so someone helps me out I'd appreciate it
I don't yet have PS3 nor do I have GT5, however, when GT5 does come out I'm planning on buying a PS3

so questions are:

1) What is needed to have for internet connection other than the PS3 console? And yes, I do have cable connection.
2) Will I be charged any amount for playing GT5 online?

1) You may need a router for splitting the internet
2) No, as far as i know Playstation network will be free for a while, maybe ever. :) no xbox live payments (yahoo!) ;)

I have a cable modem. To use the PS3 online, I disconnect from the computer, turn the modem off, turn the modem back on, plug into the PS3, and turn on the PS3. Works perfect every time.

👍

Thats what I do. Cable modem here. Also you may want to contact your ISP to make sure all the right ports are open for online gaming.

So far, nobody pays anything for playing online on the PS3 (apart your own internet standard costs).

Though we have a whole PS3-dedicated forum and this would probably be better suited in there. Especially because the only connection your questions have with GT5:P is the fact that you're planning on getting GT5 (minus the P).

Here: Playstation 3 Forum

I'm sure every doubt you may have about the console (which you don't own yet) will be answered there. 👍

That's also what I used to do, worked perfectly. Only I didn't exactly turn off the modem, just reset it with the tip of a pen on the backside. :p
