Hi, I'm planning on getting a few Tamiya R/C car. I'm not particularly familiar with the construction of them.

I was wondering what are the basic tools, glue, paint etc, that you would need to construct the car. And are the XB models customizable aswell.

Thanks!

I have the TT01 RTR, it is fairly simple to upgrade. I swapped the motor/ESC,Driveshaft,& shocks. I think they are a great chassis to start out with. As far as tools, I just bought a set of jewler screw drivers as well as a snap-on screwdriver with magnetic tips (very helpful). As far as paint, I just use the Tamiya rattle cans.

I do believe you can buy a prebuilt Tamiya R/C with a Chasis, then buy other Chasis to switch as well.

Hey there. Most Tamiya's are sold as Kits, meaning that you have to build the car yourself. This, however is not exactly a bad thing, as Tamiya's instruction booklets are among the best in all of RC'ing and each kit comes with a selection of appropriate tools to get the job done (For Glue, use CA-Type Glue as it's not provided in the kits usually).

The Bodies that come with most Tamiya kits are made out of Lexan and have to painted from the inside with RC-Appropriate paint, either through Spray Cans or an Airbrush. As for the cars themselves, all of them are upgraidable and rebuildable in some way or another.
