In all the videos I've seen, the doors on the cars pop open. Is there a reason why???

Just answer the question, don't go off on some stupid rant

Gotcha thanks, I'm watching Rides right now and they showed drifters and they poped the doors open.

Thanks for an answer.

Ya the Mustang was sweet. Rad rides by Troy cars are really sweet, the stuff he does with performance amazes me. The IS300 project is pretty cool though, wonder how it will run?

as far as im aware its a trick to show off. if you stick your hand out of the window mid-drift it shows u have one hand on the steering wheel and clearly have better control of the car.

if you can open ur door, you have the car very much under control ;)

think of it like some skater lighting a cigarette whilst doing a grind :P

For the same reason they take one hand off of the wheel. It scores more points and shows how well you get hold on and maintain 'control'.

i saw a d1gp video and a guy had a convertible 180sx i think or a onevia and he sat on his door with one leg outside and only one hand on the wheel

That happenned at Drift Showoff as well, except it was a normal 180sx, not a 'vert. It was pretty crazy to see it happen.

I think it was der alta who made the comparison between 'drifting' and 'snowboarding'in its earlier years. yeah, its mad showoff stuff. damn fun to watch.
