As i was selecting parts for my rig, i decided to tap into some of the money put aside for a monitor so i could afford a better PSU. And my question is, would a 42" 120hz HD TV work fine for gaming until i get a respectable monitor.

Its a Vizio and I've had it for awhile but it still looks really good to me. The only thing im wondering about is will the text be blurry? I hooked my laptop to it once and the picture was blurry, but i just assumed it was like that because it cant put out HD resolutions and it lacks a dedicated GPU.

My new rig has a GTX670.

I have no idea who that is lol
But since your saying that im guessing a thread has already been made XD

EDIT: Just remembered who that was, and no... i assure you i have not previously ruined a monitor by using questionable quick fix methods. I know a troll post when i see one haha

I used my GTX 580's HDMI to hook up to a TV once, it worked but I had an overscan problem where at 1080p the edges of the picture were cut off, I have no idea why, but I used the Nvidia control panel to set a custom resolution instead. The result was that some games worked but most didn't recognise the custom resolution and either defaulted to the lowest setting and wouldn't allow me to change it, had non-functioning menus but the game itself worked or forced me to use a resolution that was either too low or too high and didn't look right. I didn't look too hard for a solution so I guess you just have to try it.

I see what you did there :sly:

Any temporary monitor should be fine, if you want to save up some money you will have to make some sacrifice on image quality.
