So, I found this guy on Ebay. It's a 6 spoke Mercedes wheel. It looks suspiciously like the one on this:

The eBay wheel is listed as a wheel from the ML. But, it and the 190Evolution wheels are both 17". Are they one in the same? I thought the 190 Evolution II stuff was supposed to be unique? Or, is it just a similar lookalike?

EDIT: found one! Are they the same thing?

Imo, they look alike, but not exactly the same. If they are the same though, I must say they look a lot better 190Evolution.

The ML wheels are 8.5 inches deep while the 190 Evo wheels are 7.5 inches deep.

That's an ML wheel. Look at the rim around the outside. It is thicker and squarer on the 190. Plus, the ML wheel is shiny and the 190 one isn't really.

I found a place selling the 7.5 inch deep wheels for $192 per. I guess they made an EVO II style wheel after the Evolution II?

Be sure the bolt pattern, hub diameter and offset is correct for your application. Just because a wheel is the correct width for your car doesn't mean it's going to fit right. There are a lot of ebay wheels that look OEM, but aren't. Sometimes they will make an "OEM replica" or "OEM style" wheel that doesn't even fit the original car but is intended for an entirely different car.

The 190 EvoII wheels were slightly dished too. They also have a more pronounced rim around the inset where the bolts holes sit.

The 190 Evo also has a pronounced lip around the edge. Mercedes shop forums have loads of guys with these on W124s.

The bolt pattern for the 17x7.5s is the same 112mm pattern on the W124. The offset is 37mm, which by all accounts on that site does not cause rubbing on any surface. I was a little confused when they were talking about tires -They were talking about 215/45R17s and 225/45R17s fitting the same wheel. Is that possible?

It would vary from tire to tire, since different manufactures measure tread width slightly differently. I would imagine most 215 will fit on a 7.5 wheel, but suffer from a little sidewall deformation.

A 225 is closer to ideal, though I know at least one car came with 235/40x17 tires mounted on a 17x7.5 from the factory.

I would check with the tire manufacturer and inquire what wheel width they recommend for the particular tire.

It is, as far as I know the millimeter value measures the width of the tread and not the entire tyre. One centimeter is such a small difference that the tyres can undoubtedly be fitted on the same wheel.

Ah. Thanks, ///M-Spec and Greycap.

So if a wheel's width is within 5 cm of the Tread width, theoretically it will fit correctly? This was just a festering thought in my head. Odds are I'll have to dig deeper into Mercedes shop forums to find what I need. :)
