R/C drifting- for cheapos!

I was bored today and my sister had just found her mini/micro/whatever r/c rip off. The shell was missing. The charge lasts a few seconds and the turning radius is CRAP:scared: BUT, I had read somewhere of electrical tape used to get rc cars to break traction and I decided to try it, but instead I used that smooth, shiny version of scotch tape on the back wheels. Lo and behold that turning radius shrunk exponentially (Am I using it right? Can it Shrink exponentially?:dopey: )! Added a little tape to the front and it was doing sick 180's and weird little half-second burnouts:dopey: . So, does anyone know about any other r/c cars I could do the same to? Preferably something in the $0-$15 that can last at least 15 minutes worth until it starts losing charge. I thought about an xmod, but I heard that the clearance is trash and they don't have any of the models that I would actually buy like the 350Z or the Skyline which were discontinued.:grumpy: Any ideas?

should I move this (how?)? I just discovered that hobby forum.

What does this do then?

It's an admin tool. Only administrators or moderators can move threads. You cannot move your own thread, but you could ask a mod to do it for you.

As they have said, Premium users can already close their own threads, and all users can move their own threads regardless of status. Post deletion will never be allowed because it could so easily be abused.

MachOne, look over here
:) Although I admit that I did forget to use it , the rc cars in the hobby forum were just that. Hobby r/c cars. I don't want to pay $300 just to have a little fun , although I did a little research and decided to put it on the list to be thought out later.
Either way, any ideas, I just found a couple xmods on ebay, I'm thinking about buying.

Great idea! I'll try that (although my drifting skills are poor)

I can't either. like I said it kept doing little 180's and so on. There is no brake on it , merely forward and reverse. I tried to use R or no gas as a brake but it didn't give me a drift. I even trien putting vaseline on the tape.

Me too. I've tried nail varnish on scalextric cars' wheels before (clearly visable by the pink tiremarks along various points on my track :p), but i've never tried sellotape.

Keichi: Yeah, i know there was some orange 350z on sale that did it a few years ago. I'm sure you could pick one up on ebay for pretty cheap :). What surface are you using it on? Presumably it won't work on tarmac

I bought a Mazda RX-8 for $15. Apparently it's the drift version. Charge lasts for about 30 mins. they give you tread and no tread tires. I took the no tread tires, put some car wax on them, and they drift for hours. There's no brake, but you can let go of the forward stick momentarily and then jam it back if you want it to drift, or you can feint, or whatever. It will do donuts forever.
