I don't know how many of you know him, or what he did in the past, but I had to make a thread. Georg Plasa was a "famous" Hillclimb driver from Germany, who was known for his amazing self built cars and incredible driving skills. He died today in a crash with his "BMW 134 Judd" in Rieti, Italy.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends, I'm still shocked.

That car was awesome. :drool: RIP Georg Plasa. :(
 
I just heard the news this morning, and I was shocked.
Happened on my 20th birthday too... :(

From the very first time I saw a clip of his Judd-powered e36 on youtube I was hooked. My favorite hillclimb car to date!

To hear that he's gone is truly sad. A small comfort must be that he died living out his dream and passion (a cliché I know but still true).
Does anybody know how the crash happened?
 
No one really seems to know what happend, it looks like he made a mistake, but other drivers and people who knew him doubt that, because it would've been a huge mistake which would be strange for such a good driver.

Damn. I just happened across some footage of the "134" in action on YouTube, and read the comments stating "R.I.P." etc. and now find myself here, bewildered.
It seems, from G.T.Ace's links that the FIA / police / courts came to the conclusion (a month later) that the car suffered a suspension failure, throwing itself into the hillside at around 240 km/hr.

Requiescat in pace, indeed. If he's taken that Judd V8 with him, I doubt there'll be much peace for anyone else. :)
