Today my Gran Turismo 5 disc died and I am truly gutted! Been playing a lot recently and loving it as my best PS3 game played to date. But now i'm raging as it refuses to work.

So, I have a question do you think it's worth picking up another copy? I was at Lvl35 (A-spec_ and Lvl36 (B-spec)

Bye GT5, you will be missed. :guilty:

How did you kill it? lol Blurays are very resistant to scratches.

Anyway, buy a second hand disk, it'll cost you half the price or less.

It's almost (or already) platinum so yes go buy anew copy
I know i would if it happened to me 👍

I'm really confused myself, There is little-to-no scratches on the disc whatsoever but It refuses to work on any of the times I've tried. In fact, the disc is practically pristine.

Maybe, it's my console dying...sure hope not.

It's more likely that your disc reader is dying rather than a broken disk.

i noticed my ps3 is scratching my disc, there is a perfect circular line going around in the middle. since i always have the disc in ps3 something inside is doing this.

If it's a 60GB PS3 (the old fat one) it's most likely the blu-ray drive that has been killed. I tried that twice with my old one. I changed it after the first one was broken, but it started again a few days later.

Never had it with my new slim one.

Nah, it can play other discs, I'm playing PES2011 right now...:(

Thanks for all the replies guys! All these suggestions etc. are very helpful. 👍

Hace you tried reinstalling your game data?
If not, try that first (be careful not to delete your save game)

Had the same problem (GT5 disc didn't work but other Games/Blurays no issues) some time ago (maybe 3 months), but i was lucky enough to get the disc changed for a free new one. The problem was a small crack in the inner Ring of the disc...maybe you've got the same problem.

The same happened with me, my Blue ray drive, died (Well bob kill it...), didn´t read properly, when I do a lap, the sector timing didn´t count either.

My solution was a new PS, and 2 days of restoring system and update thumbnail, different PS, different codes :S

With the amount of GT5 folk rage quitting on the game, hopefully you will find another copy that wont be too pricy. :)

I bought a pre-owned version of the game from HMV and spent an extra pound to keep it safe for example if it broke or didnt work as long as i keep the receit and it's within 12 months I can get a new one. Simples :D

Id say you should get another copy of the game, since youve progressed pretty deep into the game and logged all those hours.

Well, if your like me and GT5 is the ONLY game that you play on the PS3 then definitely get another copy.

did you try hhhaw hhhhhhaaaaaww rubbing your GT5 disc in small pressured circles against your clothed chest? (no zippers, nylon, logos)

oh and don't forget to backup your save game onto USB. just in case that re-install?n / new disc does something very very unwarranted.

Not sure how your particular country works in the sense of department stores, but here (USA) I can take my game to a Wal-Mart or Target and exchange for exact same thing, without a receipt.

All you need is an ID and go to customer service desk to exchange, just tell the clerk that you bought this game a few weeks ago, can't find receipt and would like to exchange for a new copy since it no longer works in your system.

Again, this may not work in the stores around your area. I have done this a few times over the years.

I think my my gt5 disc is dying.

In game menus have become unresponsive and when I click on any button that will take you to some form of sub menu the gt silhouette logo appears and stays on screen for a very long time. Every time it happens I'm forced to turn off the console from the back and.. ugh what the hell. It takes too long :ouch:

I'm still uncertain whether it's the disc drive in my playstation because it sometimes refuses to eject discs :scared:

Might I inquire that I have a console from launch.
