If you ever made changes to your car's settings with the RA menu in an event that you needed to repeat or re-race several times in a row while getting better and better results, you need to know this.
My experience comes from the Vettel Challenge where the game wants me to use 5/5 brake balance but I want to use 10/10, and everytime I needed to restart the race or didn't get the time I wanted the game would reset my settings. This is extremely frustrating, especially when you have to make settings during the actual race while steering the X1 out of the pits or before the first turn.
Anyways I found the trick to saving the RA menu settings:
1. Start the race or event and make your settinigs in the RA menu.
2. Immediately hit pause and choose restart (if you choose restart after getting disqualified or complete the event, it will not save your settings).
3. Your settings will now become permanent regardless if you are disqualified or make a qualifying time. The only way they will reset to the factory defaults is if you leave the event completely (e.g. go out to the Nurb, Monza, Suzuka selection of the Vettel Challenge).
Note 1: This will not work with the ASM setting, which always resets to 'off', but will work for all the other settings: TCS, 4WDtq, ABS, F&R Brake.
Note 2: This trick works anywhere: the Special Events, the License Tests, A-Spec, and even the Seasonal Events (including Time and Drift Trials).
So if for any reason you are doing a race, event, challenge, or test in which you repeatedly make, or wanted to make but didn't have the time to make changes to your car's settings with the RA menu, now you can and only need to do so once. Just set it, restart, and forget it.
This would have made some of the Special Events and License Tests so much easier had I only understood this sooner, and so I am sure this trick will be useful to most racers out there.
Cheers.
