This might sound crazy but for online races maybe PD could allow 1 or 2 users to be designated commentators for big races. Maybe even spotters, surely they will need them for NASCAR and co-pilot for Rally.

Ill just continue to pray this is a feature of gameplay that will come by complete surprise :) Then you all can go into Options and turn it off :P

Anyone played the MotoGP 09/10 demo? it's got this voice that's talking to you that's not commentary or pit crew, I have no idea what it's supposed to be and just seems totally stupid to me.

The last racing game I played which had a race commentator was Formula 1 for the old grey PlayStation. Murray Walker...I shall say no more. :)

There are only two kinds of dialogue in games that works -

1) Announcement Samples like "FIGHT!" in Tekken or "AWESOME!" in UT

2) Dialogue in games with a storyline.

Commentary always ends up sounding retarded if you play the game long enough, F1CE, Fifa, etc... Even announcements start grating if the sample is more than just a word or two. My pet hate - "The UAV is online!" in COD - that used to drive me up the wall!

for me it would be cool that you can turn or radio in car... and when you switch camera to outside you cant hear anything... and it would be exactly like car radio... buttons, light, ecc.

I always liked:

He's doing a bit of agricultural work (off and through the grass!)!:):dopey:

"Yeah 25GB... but GT5 will be on 3 discs... so guess again is there room..."

Back in 2007 Hitachi developed a quad-layer(thats 100GB) blu ray that is compatible with the PS3 w/o any extra hardware add-ons. GT5 will not be on 3 discs. What are you saying? They would use 3x single layer discs because the games going to be almost 75GB? Or their going to use 3x dual-layer discs because the games going to be almost 150GB?

Either way, I assure you it will not be on 3 disc. That is absurd considering even an eight layer disc(200GB) exists thats compatible with PS3 with only a firmware update(which we've probably already received.)

I think the pit-commentary would be a nice addition to the excitement of a race, but I could do without any other commentary, I'm not a big fan of it. It gets old very quickly.

I think if the pit radio is combined with the timing and position info then it doesn't become boring, it can tell you the time between you and the car in front/behind/leader, the lap-time difference between you and the car in front/behind/leader, how your current split times compare to your best in the race, stuff like that. If the samples for reading out the actual times can be put together well enough that they don't just sound stuck together and that they are used at appropriate times during racing I'd go for that.

This is getting off topic a bit, but...
Do you think that multiple discs worth of game (whether its on multiple layers oof one disc or not), in addition to how long it has been in development will effect the price of the game? I know most people (including myself) have probably already pre-ordered it for $60, but you never know, Sony or PD might decide it is worth more to them. What do you guys think?

Do you think real time physics + weather etc, would affect commentary ?.I don't mind race/replay commentary & also through the overhead tannoy speakers.Would give a varied racing atmosphere, because they would have to respond to most or all that's happening during races.E.g accidents in Nascar, who's involved ,who caused it, where on the track, severity of the accident, sudden mechanical problems ( what they are or might be ), whether the race is restarted or not etc. They always talk about conditions before, during & after qualifying & a race.

Where did you get that fact from? There may well be 3 discs, we don't know, but will GT5 itself BE on all 3, in terms of game content? Show me the proof.
