I just read an x-box mag and it reviews this new game
race driver 2

Now it says it will kick the ass out of gt4, OK it was an x-box mag so they are bound to say its better.

I have an x-box and love it but I refuse to believe this new racing game will beat gt4 - Does anyone else have any more info on this ???

It does have limited cars - about 50 or so are mentioned in the mag, but they do have big-rigs and formula ford etc

Im gt through and through but I suppose I could sell my ps2 if this x-box game is better, but I still dont want to believe it is.

After all the positive reviews TOCA Race Driver got, and the pile of rubbish it turned out to be, I'd be getting my hands on it before I made any sort of judgement.

Codemasters aren't in the best of form in racing games at the moment (particularly after the Indy Racing League they released - which turned up on the PS2 without Logitech support) and I'd be surprised if they'd made such a leap on the vehicle dynamics side of things as to catch up with the Gran Turismo series.

Well Id rent it before buying it.

and I think you are right, I dont believe they could get the cars to handle as well as gt can.

but the x-box has more power than ps2 - am I right in thinking that ?? So it has the capability to create a better game ??

True, a rental is probably in order for this one. Seeing as the first one was so dissapointing. The only nice aspect was all the international tracks available.

Is my assumption right ? - It is a more powerful console, so with the right creators there could be a better racing game than GT ?

I doubt it will have the same depth, or amount of cars as GT4. As for the driving physics, just playing my copy of GT4:P tells me that Codemasters will have to try incredibly hard to get to the same levels as PD have managed this time around.

Well, logically it's possible - but I seriously doubt they go into the depth that Polyphony Digital do for GT.

On that basis Project Gotham and Sega GT should have been better than GT3 (in terms of the driving experience), and they weren't.

PD have the best vision for this style of game - well, they did create the genre - and so far, the best technical skill to carry it off, in spite of apparent platform handicaps.

How does it compare to GT3 ? A bit better or lots better ?

Well it would be kinda pointless if you couldn't drive the cars.

The game has 5 tracks.
Tskuba Circuit (real japanese circuit)
Fuji Speedway (another japanese one)
Grand Canyon (A tough rally course, longer than Tahiti maze)
New york (Based on times square area, I think, consists of real roads like Tokyo R246)
Citta di Arria (Insanely fun street track based on the streets of Assisi, I think)

You have arcade mode and licence mode. Licence mode is where you unlock all the other cars. Arcade mode is where you race.

The graphics are improved with more detail on cars and there is even a 350Z roadster where you can see the driver steering and shifting.

The sound is has been improved imensly. Each car's engine note now has noticeable quirks and it sounds a helluva lot better while your blasting allong at speed.

The handling of the cars is sublime, it's probably the best barring F355 challenge on any console. It's just too hard to describe how much improved it is.

yeah I know - tut !!

Lucky you getting to have an early go on it ! You want my address so I can borrow it !!! hehe !

I'll sit tight and wait for it to come out. Courses sound good though - like theres a few different styles in there.

hey we cant forget about the ps3
if any one beats gt4 there going to have to do everthing all over again when ps3 comes out with gt5 (i hope there will be a gt on ps3)

gt has all other racing sims wraped around its programing lol(i mean fingers)
