Is this correct? I understand that some vehicles cannot be Race Modified. However., what I find very confusing is the number of well known Premium Cars (that are VERY well known for being used as Race Cars) that cannot be be Race Modified. I've got some good Premium Cars.., yet I can't Race Mod them. It won't let me mod (for example)

BMW-M3 (2007)
Audio R-8 5.2 Quattro (2009)
Astin Martin DB9 (2006)
Alfa Romeo Competizione
Mustang V8 GT (2007)
Ford Focus ST (2006)
Ferrari 430 Scuderia (2007)
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo (2007)
(These are just a few of the long list of Premium Cars I have that cannot be Race Modified).

These are all Premium Cars that are "well known" for Racing Mods. I can't mod any of these cars.., but I can mod an old cheapo Honda Civic Type R..??
Is this correct.., are most of the good Premium Cars not able to be Race Modified (or at least the ones that SHOULD be able to have this done).

Yeah it sucks I don't even really bother with that race mod stuff mostly. I mean race-modded cappuccino at what, like 100hp? Ridiculously useless, even if slightly fun to drive at first (and that fun-factor wears out fairly quickly with a car like that). But many of those cars you listed can have aero-kits put on them, just not the decals and other racecar mods.

Ya, like every other car list in GT5, the RM car list is sort of under whelming. There are only 17 cars, which include 2 Corvettes, 2 Camaros, 2 Elises, an NSX, and a bunch of ricers. I really like this feature because you can really customize these race cars unlike the pre-made ones.

Hopefully they add more soon.

I'm fine with the game not wasting resources on "liveries", I have a feeling most people would just be drawing curse words and genitals anyway. It was neat in forza, but it doesn't rally add anything.

More race modded cars however would be sweet. The RM cars are completely different animals compared to their stock counterparts... even their fully modded "normal" counterparts.

I agree. It would have been cool if instead of modeling 73 different "Skylines" they had modeled more than 17 Race-Modded cars. Maybe they'll do some more as an update or something.

It would add a ton of replay value though, because GT5 is becoming very boring for me

Drawing on the car adds replay value? No, new races, new tracks, and new cars add replay value. Good online competition builds replay value. Liveries just allow you to express a little creativity. If I want to stick stickers, I'll play little big planet 2.

Meh, most of those cars have racing versions of them in the game already- would be kind of redundant. And if I really like, let's say, the Audi R8, I don't have to sacrifice my road car to get the race car.

That's the problem! 95% of the race cars in this game are Standards... If you want the race version you end up overpaying for a substandard vehicle.

Only the Two Corvettes can pass off as race cars, the rest are just useless. No Ferrari race mods, no Skyline race mods, and no Audi R8 race mods, If NFS Shift can model every car in the game with Racing Packages why cant GT do it.

Exactly! It's shameful that all the real race cars in GT5 are Standards. It's even more annoying that you can't race mod Premium Vehicles that are used for race cars in real life.

Please give us a livery editor even if others can't see it online would still be great for replay videos and photos etc.

Yeah like the 430 scud into the gt3 race car. Or even the db9 into a dbr9.

So the Lexus, Elise (x2) and Lexus RM is useless? UM...no both mods are great
FYI not all racers are 600+ HP. Also why in the hell do you want more Skylines? I mean really aren't there already like 10+ different race type Skylines already?

If you want something like NFS then go play NFS:tdown:

As far as the Cappuccino goes, I am going to have to disagree. It's by no means a fast car speed wise, but it is incredibly nimble in the corners allowing it to not have to sacrifice speed. When I race online with my friends, they need street cars that have upwards of 4 times the power to keep up with me.

Audio R-8 5.2 Quattro (2009)
I think the LMS Quattro is based on the 4.2 or actually any R8 chassis for that matter (since they use bespoke racing powertrain anyway).

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo (2007)
EVO 9 is moddable.

And to your list, I'd also add Dodge Viper and Lexus ISF (that one is the biggest disappointment, especially because kaz used race-preped version of it in the 24h nurburgring race, available to view at gt-tv). I mean, they could've at least give us an option of sacrificing your premium interior for a bare metal and rollcage in order to make car look like it's made for racing.

Yeah i understand that There are less power racers. What i meant with the skyline is that instead of many models of the same skyline why not have one race mod one since it is one of the great racers. The lexus and stuff is great but seeing the lack of car brands i mentioned is disapointing.
I never understood when people mention another comparitive game people say play that instead. Im making a comparison.

There is a ISF RM in the game. If that is not enough, there is also a ISF racing concept.

They might not all be your cup of tea, I can easily point to real life counterparts for most of them.
The Evo and STi are obvious, the classic muscle cars are a nice American throwback, there are new Camaros in the Continental series and I think the Rolex series as well, Integras race in the BTCC, etc.

I certainly want more, but to say that only the corvettes pass as race cars is silly.

all the cars i bought were RM-able ..

** P Chevrolet Camaro SS RM 10
** P Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RM 69

Yeah i made a mistake in just calling the vettes as race cars. I do have a tvr rm and i like it very much. One more car though that i would like to have seen with race mods is a mini cooper. They race them a lot and a shame they didnt add that as well as an event for a mini race car championship.

What does a livery editor has to do with a racing car?

You can "decorate" a car as much as you can but that isn't going to make it any faster.

Are you kidding? A livery editor has everything to do with a racing car!
JPS and Lotus, Gulf and Ford, Castrol and Toyota. All perfect examples of iconic livery design. Who cares if it doesn't make it go faster?

An editor would be fantastic to make some of your own designs on your favourite racing cars. A perfect example is the DTM style Lexus. It's a blank canvas screaming for some colour yes?👍

'Decorating' a car would add a new level a depth to the game. There are whole communities in Forza for example, including myself, who mostly decorated cars rather than raced.

You could take a blank canvas, like a Civic or an Evo and turn it into something from reality like these examples that i made:

Or something you make up in your head.

Aplogies for the rant but i just needed to express the need for a livery editor!👍
