I undetrstand the polls have closed automatically? I didn't think that would happen until midnight tonight. I'll reopen them tonight (gotta run right now) and probably leave them open until Sunday night.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Duke

indeed...I think now it's too late...there was a deadline, to be respected...now their votes would be decisive....too much decisive...
let's just stick to do other 2 votations for the 2 tied races imho

I agree with IForce and Rico...we all knew when the polls were closing (each poll had a deadline date and time at the top of the poll). One of the tenants of being a team manager is to be prudent and timely on issues at hand. Even Flinx's team had the forethought to have their co-manager enter their team votes in Flinx's excusable absence (without checking who actually voted in each poll, I assume they were able to get the votes in).

Many of the polls had 11 votes, which means 11 managers (or co-managers) were able to uphold their obligations to the voting window. For those who who could not, for whatever reason, vote in this window to benefit from the re-opening of the polls is an unfair advantage over the managers that were able to adhere to the established rules.

I propose private revoting for the tied races within this forum. I also suggest that the polls for those tied races be limited to the races which already received votes.

Looking at totals i see 3 ties

4.3 3-3
4.6 2-2
wild card 3-3

Since 4.6 has the lowest total i guess it would be replaced by the wild card.

All we need is 2 new polls for 4.3 and 4.18 with the 2 tied races in each.

4 other races have a 1 vote difference and the rest have 2+ so they should be fine.

I agree about leaving polls closed. I also agree about tiebreaker voting. I'm ok with whatever the Admin and other captains decide regarding how we proceed. I won't be around much until Sunday evening (Central US), so if there is another vote pending please allow at least a couple days.

It looks as if I have made a mistake in the voting, as I voted for all 10 races and the wild card, for a total of 11 votes. I didn't realize that if we picked the wildcard, we had to drop one of the others by not voting for it. We at GTP would like to remove our vote for the wet track race, as that is the one which we do not want to do, and would like to be replaced by the wild card race. Sorry for the mistake, Duke.:ouch:

I also agree with this. If they missed the voting deadline, too bad. We wouldn't accept late race submissions, so why should this be any different?

OK, I have a set of votes PMed to me this afternoon by Spark of GTChallenge at 3:08PM. This was around the times the polls closed; they apologized for missing the timeline. What would you folks like me to do with their votes - cast them as PMed, or throw them out?

Which proposal did you vote for? I'll remove it.

And, I agree with a private vote-off here, limited to the selections that received votes in the first round of voting. After you tell me what people want to do with GTC's votes, the tie situation may change. After that is settled, I will post runoff polls on this board.

I don't think so duke, that would still allow them a bit of time to look at the results and pick a race to suit themselves.

1.4.6 : Chevrolet Corvette Stingray @ Tsukuba Wet (SOGT)

That's the one we voted for by mistake. Thanks Duke.👍

As for the votes by PM from GT Challenge, I say no, because I'm a big mean jerk.:)

There may have been some inadvertant miscommunication concerning the Poll deadlines. I believe you had mentioned, Duke, that you were going to open the polls Wednesday and leave them open until Friday evening.

However, when you opened the polls Wednesday afternoon, I'm assuming you tagged them for 48 hours, and vBulletin takes that literally, so that the deadline was exactly 48 hours after you opened them.

If one didn't check the poll threads carefully, they may have missed the actual deadline time posted at the top of the polls. It's only because I started submitting GTX votes Thursday evening that I noticed it, myself. I also assumed that the other managers would have noticed it.

Perhaps Spark @ GTC assumed the deadline was later on Friday, and didn't check the open polls until he went to submit votes at 3 PM, only to find the polls closed. He then PM'd the votes to you.

I'd say if you have those votes in hand, they should be accepted. I believe they acted in good faith, but were caught by the restrictive deadline option of vBulletin.

For any other team that has not voted, and did not PM the votes to you, then it should be too late, and they should not benefit from reopening the polls.

That's correct. In fact, VBulletin only gave me the option for X number of days after when they were originally created, with no option for a number of hours. So yes, I assumed that it would go through the end of the date given, meaning that evening. However, as NQ states, VBulletin picks it up exactly and so it closed them earlier than I had intended.

I agree that they acted in good faith and I believe that the ambiguity between what I said and how VBulletin operated means that GTChallenge's votes should be accepted. I apologize in advance if this angers any of the other teams, but I'm going to cast their votes as submitted, and we'll see what tie breakers are needed after that.

We need to get these ties worked out as soon as possible so our teams can choose who will run what race. We're already down to about 5 days and we still have yet to see all the races, which makes it hard for us to allocate a racer to each race.

Yes, I'm trying to do that as soon as possible. One small hitch is that GTChallenge sent me 11 votes. I've posted messages to Sparks here and at GTC to get him to withdraw their extra vote.

Given the irregularity that has already occurred, if I do not hear from GTC about this within 24 hours, I will not cast any of their votes. I will then post the two required runoff polls - 10.4.3 and 10.4.18 - here and keep them open for 24 hours.

1. Private vote to split tied categories, OK by me/us 👍

2. As for the late vote from GTC. No prob from my end. In fact, I think to chop a whole board out of the competition just for being a few hours late on a vote before anyones has even hit the track yet, would be waayy out of order, especialy as they've spent the last coupla months getting a team together and submitting races. Different ball game if it was an actaul race deadline. I can understand if people think it was deliberate vote manuvouring, but as far as I'm concerned, save the black flags for later ;)

Nobody said anything about kicking them out for not voting, they just lost the right to ***** about the races.:)

Im not crazy about the idea of GTC having their late votes counted but i can live with it.

I know their captain, and he's a fair guy, along with all the team...so I'm sure they had no bad purposes to check the races before voting
let's get the ball rolling :D

afflicted for the misunderstanding it was not absolutely in a strategic goal but an error of vbulletin, here's the list of GTC votes

Race 1.4.7: Long course, Nürburgring or Le Sarthe : Gillet Vertigo @ Le Sarthe II (GTRP)

Race 1.4.5: Dirt or Snow course / Rally Car / Dirt or Snow Tires : Renault 5 Maxi Turbo Rally Car @ Tahiti Maze (GTPlanet)

Race 1.4.18: Wild Cards : Renault 5 Maxi Turbo Rally Car @ Paris George V (GTRP)

Race 1.4.6: Wet Course : NSX-R Prototype LM Road Car @ Tsukuba Wet (Team Numbers)

Race 1.4.3: Street Course / Race Car / Race Tires : Mazda 787 B @ Special Stage Route 5 (SOGT)

Race 1.4.1: Road Course / Race Car / Race Tires : Mazda RX-8 Concept LM @ Autumn Ring (GTweb)

After re-checking the votes it looks as if 4.3 is no longer tied (787B) and race 4.1 is now a tie (RX-8,Loctite).Also the wet race went back to being a tie but i guess is still out.

OK, vortes updated. I'll get tiebreaker polls posted later tonight.

Whoops, after reading through the recent posts here, I now realize that I voted 11 times when I should have just voted 10 times. No matter, none of my votes changed any outcome as far as I can tell, since nothing I voted for was voted in. In fact, only three scenarios even had anyone else voting for the same thing I did. If I were to repeal any one of my votes, it would be for the Wild Card, where I voted for the S800 RSC at George V Paris.
