RACERS REUNITED. Where are we going?

Folks, I know that this is a purely personal view, and others may disagree, but I am head over heels in love with GT Sport. The detail of steering feedback feels three or four generations ahead of GT6; I'm actually enjoying using racing tyres! No wonder that the new GT Sport Thrustmaster wheel costs a fortune, it'll have to be made of pretty stern stuff to handle anything above No2 setting on max torque. I'm using No1, and my T300 is still sweating it's ***** off. I'll be setting up a new external fan before soon.

Graphics look pretty good to me too, and the sound is a definite step forward. Got to go and do a bit more time folks, GTS is calling...

I've created a Racers Reunited Community on PS4. I don't know how much use it'll be, but we might as well have it.

@Famine @Venari @SerenityRiver you're not on my friends list, so I can't invite you to join the Community, but if you'd like to join, it might be available through search?

Cheers, Zo.

That is to represent my mind being utterly blown, Zo.

Well I still haven't bought GTS yet, but if Zo's using racing cars with racing tyres it might have something going for it I suppose!

I'm still pondering on which (if any) way to leap.

I’m waiting for a used copy of GTS to come into my GF’s store. It’s not worth $80 and no matter how good it is the track list is still utter garbage. I still love PCARS2 despite its many bugs.

I have GTS but I don't have a compatible wheel (the telltale *zwzzzzz* of my battered DFP is the clue.) On controller it's a bit twitchy, even for me, but I've only driven a couple of cars.

That said, I did pile the Corvette around Willow and that was fun. Traction is an issue for my heavy right thumb. :D

Mind you, there's only a couple of cars to drive. Where's the Alpine A110? Aston DB5? Ford Escort Cosworth? Even the Muira and Countach? Instead there's the BMW i3 and fifteen different Mazda Atenzas before you graduate to GT1 cars. Not too impressed with that so far.

Not impressed by the menus and settings options. You're limited with how you set up the controllers too, which is cock.

Are we racing GT6 tonight?

Have you tried the motion control option, that seems to work quite well according to a few reports.

Not impressed by the menus
I thought that as well but haven't seen it mentioned. The main screen too has a wow factor for awhile but the constantly changing background got irritating after a few days. Not sure if there's a fixed option.

Have to say I’m pleasantly surprised with GTS so far, they seem to have improved the handling since the beta, love the Group 4 cars especially. I’ve been taking the single player content at a very leisurely pace since I want to make it last, but’s it’s reasonably fun as usual trying to beat people’s times. I still haven’t even touched most of the tracks and I think I’ve only driven about 6 different cars. I’ve spent most of the time in the livery editor which is of course the best part of the game, as good as Forza’s once they put in the decal uploader, and in Sport mode, I haven’t had a bad race yet, haven’t encountered anyone dirty and only saw lag once I think. It seems like they put most of their effort into making those servers perfect.

I haven’t gone into any of the custom lobbies yet, are they stable? Hope I get to race against you guys one day, will be great to see all the liveries on track together.

Oh Blue! I'll have to find out where you're racing. I have worked really hard at just getting round without some talentless 🤬 stuffing his motor into me from ever conceivable direction, with little success. I even got one bloke very obviously aiming to take me out on the turn-in. Even getting a decent qualifying position has been no guarantee of not being mullered on the first corner. I'm finding it very frustrating.

Glad you're having a good time though, maybe I've been unlucky, and better races lay ahead.

The one lobby I've set up was okay on the whole. BB had to leave and return because of a stuck screen at the end of a race, but that's about it.

Cheers, Zo.

You have to race against Italians though, who couldn’t have a clean race in a street sweeper. I only have to deal with Americans and Brazilians who mean well but usually have no situational awareness whatsoever. And if you’re on their inside and they come down on you, they think you hit them on purpose and try to take you out in the next turn. I’ve had a lot of great side by side races though in the street cars. It’s mostly the Group 3 races that people struggle with.

Have you done enough races to get your SR to S? Once you get to the top rank things improve massively, you just have to have the patience to get there.

I'm an A at the moment, but I'm a little concerned that it could get damaged by some idiots smacking into my side. I don't have any idea how the 'Big Brother' would know who was to blame.

Maybe I should stick to the N races. Generally I've found them to be cleaner, and the idiots are so idiotic that it's not too difficult to avoid them. I thought that the higher races would help my ranking along better, but we'll see. Top race is on an oval today anyway, I wouldn't go anywhere near it

Cheers, Zo.

There's certainly a lot of threads saying pretty much the same things @Zolon32. SR and cleanliness don't necessarily go together.

Can't you increase your rankings via the arcade custom races? That's all I did in the demo and my ratings went up I believe. The AI is pretty decent now, certainly an improvement over previous versions anyway.

It's definitely worth having a bash at Paul. Given how things are in Sport mode I quite like the way the AI behaves in comparison. I'll have a spin and see how it goes.

Just done the Nurb four lap race in campaign mode. It's brilliant, you can tune your motor to the sky and blast round, blowing the AI into the weeds without taking any risks at all, fan-bloody-tastic!

Cheers, Zo.

Edit: I just have to add, my most recent Sport race was in a field of As and Ss, and the general behaviour was better overall. However, it was at Alsace Village reverse, and there was carnage at the first corner, of course

OK, I'm ready to try a bit of GTS online. Who's on when?

Well, it's not quite as easy as that Mark. I mean, what's your Sportsmanship rating like? Us S types have certain standards to uphold you know. We can't be seen to be fraternising with Bs and Cs...

More seriously, I've got family descending today, so I'm screwed. But I'll definitely have a room open on Thursday, and I'll PM you any time I'm free for a bash between then and now.

Cheers, Zo.

Tried an online lobby. Geez, the sportsmanship hasn't done much to improve driving standards. Mind you, there were some very fast kids out there. I'm afraid I'm still E/B after three Gr4 races around Suzuka.

Rather annoyingly, Thursday is pub quiz night.
