Just thought of this idea but rather than start compiling it and then posting I thought i'll gather others info and contribute my own experience to build a guide to which races are simply impossible to beat in professional mode.

So anyone who wishes to contirbute post what races you found to be are and i'll add them to this first post.

Thanks
John

more to come as people add more that they find to be impossible

RACES THAT MORE THAN LIKELY YOU CAN'T GET A GOLD IN PROFESSIONAL MODE

C-3 Swift time trial
B-5 Lancer Evolution 9 time trial
A-3 Skyline R34 time trial
A-5 Acura NSX time trial
S-3 Viper GTS time trial
S-4 Ferrari 599 Mission race
S-5 BMW M3 time trial
S-7 Corvette Z06 time trial

Lotus elise dealer race
Renault clio sport dealer race

good thread.

maybe the swift one if you don't get crazy drafting?

(i mean, hard to gold) without a good lap of draft i think its impossible in such short and easy track

are we talking professional mode with all controllers off? If so I agree with you, especially for the speed six event at the dealer.
for the swift race i was able to finish 2nd but I gave up for the first place.
you can also watch the replay and look at the one in 1st place and their doing every lap almost perfectly. no mistake!

I don''t mind racing with them. but I would appreciate some qualification. even if it's hard i like the fact that we can't take a car that they don't even stand a chance. Like gt3 and gt4

The one with the ferrari 599 must be impossible.
If you mean the last S Class race, it's kind of weird. You have to help a fellow 599 make second. You have to slow down the other cars, which I think are basically two Audis, then just beat the other 599 at the end. Not what I would have set up for a Gran Turismo mission at all, but those crazy Japanese, they do like to throw us curves sometimes.

As I said in another post, I do like challenging missions, but not Mission: Impossibles. I hope we don't have to do some stupid driving or resort to Noob Mode to win our golds and silvers in GT5 itself.

I think he means the Ferrari 599 race at Daytona, you're thinking of the F430 race at Suzuka. :)

The Ferrari race at Daytona is the easiest but it is sort of easy. You do have to be very careful getting around the packs of cars, and I had to avoid bots which suddenly swerved into my way quite a few attempts. It just takes some practice to get a handle on the car - don't go flat out around the banks - and watching what the bots do.

One thing that is both good and bad is that the races are never exactly the same, so you aren't stuck with picking one path and mastering it, after which the race is kind of boring. So you aren't stuck with having to go online to have a decent race.

The Alfa (C-5) one I can confirm is possible, although I had to engineer a draft for virtually the whole course.

lol j-pap i lolled so bad when i read the title of this thread. i had to get my password sent to me because i wanted to reply...its true im finding it very difficult to achieve golds. i just bought a viper for the s class time trial, just wanted to see how impossible this one was, its very tough i got a bronze on my first go, but im not even going to bother going for gold, the car is way too wild to get such a time, the track also is wild especially for the viper. or maybe im just a crap driver.

Actually I'm having a lot of trouble with A2 for some reason? it's the Japanese Something 300ps race around Fuji and I just can't place better than 6/7 in Professional mode, maybe I'm just crap at this one, or I'm useing the wrong car, so far I've tried the new 07 Scooby and Nissan Z but no luck.

Now it says 300 ps, but it allows cars over 300ps, so does that mean that you can have any car up to 399 ps or not ? Either way what is the the best car to do this race in as I'm stuck?

I'm also going to post this in a topic of it's own as I'm sure/hope I not the only one haveing trouble with this one, even if it's not impossible :nervous: :dunce:

ok updated. removed the 147 and the audi tt time trials as i agree they should be possible just are extremely difficult.

i'm trying to do the viper race at the moment. still got some time to cut off it but can tell it is no way possible to get gold in professional.

The Viper one I did like one attempt with pro physics, and quickly decided if it is possible it will take me a damn long time so with standard physics I managed a 1'10.9xx.

If it turns out it is possible to get all golds with pro physics then I will go back and do it, but I don't have he patience for a possible lost cause.

1.10? its a 1.12 for the gold. i'm guessing you mean 1.20?

i'm down to a 1.12.232 atm practicing in arcade mode. its a bloody hard time to get

No I mean I got 1'10.9xx with the standard physics, and the reason for that is I was using the race as a cash cow, 1 small sub 1'12 lap = 2.5million, I got so used to the car and track (standard physics) I kept doing it for cash, and one attempt I got a 1'10.9xx.

Much of the problem ws passing the other car before it reached that uphill twisty bit.

ah sweet. great effort then. any chance you could have a shot in arcade mode time trial so that a ghost gets loaded up? i don't know where to find another second in my laptime and having a ghost to run off would help heaps.

Um, yeah I will have a quick whirl now, should beat 1'12 easily enough but I cant promise another 1'10.9xx lol.

Had a quick session, did a 1'11.303, that should be a good enough ghost.

i had a shot at it for 20 or so minutes but gave up. i seem to be able to do individual parts quick but cant get a full lap clean wether it be i stuff up at the start or stuff up at the last of the uphill twists. but yes it definitely did help. very nice lap i must say.

also updated the list of events. i really should have noted them down as i completed each going through the game. oh well when english version is out ill note them all down that time around.

after attempting the tvr dealer race i think it is possible to do in professional. i couldnt' be bothered trying it in professional at first so just tried arcade and had the lead by lap 2 of 5 so i think it should be doable in professional.
