Races impossible to beat in professional mode thread

finally got that eiger norward event done with a 11.7. i'd say i fluked it though.

hey vipergtsr01 did you use the clutch to kick the car out a bit going through the uphill twistys? i was struggling to get through the corners as you were.

Congrats

No I didn't, but I did flat shift a couple times, once when I was pulling out of a tight corner. Holding it in first I would have run wide so I short shifted into second early but did a quick flat shift to give abit of a extra 'kick'.

after attempting the tvr dealer race i think it is possible to do in professional. i couldnt' be bothered trying it in professional at first so just tried arcade and had the lead by lap 2 of 5 so i think it should be doable in professional.

wow i just tried the tvr race, man that car is more twitchy than the viper. it going to be tough i think, but im going to enjoy it, much more than the time trials anyway....so have you come close to first yet?
 
Someone please explain Mission C-5 for a mentally challenged... Am I supposed to stay in front of at least 3 cars or what ?... I mean, I can't even keep up with the Swift, and my sister has one of those...
 
How do u switch to Professional Mode ? Or do you guys mean turn off all the assists ? I was never aware that theres a Pro Mode...

Can someone show where I can find it ? Thanks !
 
Great thread. However, I think a great idea would be to go through the list of races (ALL races) and list the best car(s) and driving assists (if needed) to use for each race. That would certainly help me a lot, since I obviously cant read the stats on each car :P .

Before the race (on the assists screen) there is 2nd option from the top - it is "physics" option. Shorter word is "normal" (GT4-arcade-mode-like) physics, longer is new "professional" physics.

It's not complicated. One Make Races (in respectful manufactorer) can only be won by specific car (you can pretty much make it out for every manufactorer). Mission ot Time Trial races in Event mode are also car specific, while for the remaining races you can choose for yourself. There is usualy no need for any assists on any car, because if some race can't be won on professional, it just can't be won. No assists will help you. And you do not actually need any assits in Normal physics mode, test-driving a Corvette in both modes can pretty much show you that.
 
So, Amar, I quite agree with you on this...

It's almost like the normal simulation mode already gives the assists; for instance, you can jump on the throttle on any of the more powerful cars and you almost don't get any wheelspin at all.

Which in a way makes this mode a bit different from GT4...

for me the Acid test - can the AI lap for a "Gold" time in these time trial events?

if not;

a, the AI sucks big time, i can go through corners faster in a alfa 147 than the AI can in a 'Teg Type R.... that is NOT RIGHT

b, the test is too hard

a teg type r could easily out handle a 147.
 
^thats my point, but when the AI is in the teg i can go round the corners faster which means that the AI totally sucks...
 
I have just done Alfa 147 (C5event) on professional with all assists off - gold, 1'05.195 - for me this one was very hard - is it hard for you guys ? Further more I had to use draft do pass it... is it allowed to use draft for golding events on professional physics ?

Personally I noticed that the AI drives the Type R exactly like an FR car, which is the main cause for it to be slow, imho. I'm very aware of the differences and generally do quite well in them compared to others - lots of people in competitive racing don't take this difference into account, so in that respect it's not even that unrealistic. ;)

Hopefully they can do something about that in a future release though.

but is still poor AI though its like they just "drive" the cars round the circuit, they are hardly racing each other, i.e nipping in and out of slipstreams etc

you can also tell the AI is pants because otherwise the PD team wouldnt have to create events which put you 30 seconds+ behind the lead car.. if you can go round drafting why dont the CPU cars!?

I didn't realize that some of these gold cups are impossible to achieve in professional mode.

Has anyone gotten gold in B-5 @ Eiger with evolution IX '05? I came within a hair of silver but I don't cosider myself very good at this game.

yes i thought that was impossible buts its not. if you go to arcade some one has done it with s3 tires(same in the time trial) pro mode in 1:145??....my fastest is 1:15.900.

Not only this, the game is adding speed to cars and there are races I barely overtake Delta Integrale with 420 HP M3 Coupe on the straight. And when I drive the Delta, it's so slow that even Brera and Z3 are easily overtaking me. It's only crutch to make unbalanced and synthetically set races little more competitive. The whole race system has to be revamped and every single race tested by players, different setting for pro/arcade or there will be fun only in online + time trials.

Well thats the main reason I play GT, time attacks, the racing in my opinion was never good.

I agree for the most part; it's a driving simulation not really a racing simulation. I do wish the racing was better though.

I don't know why they don't just make sure the races have cars in the same class.
 
Its a bit of a let down to find out GT5P has crappy A.I. I expected better form them this time. Oh well we will still buy it, and love it. I liked that FM2 had some decent A.I., I actually turned it down to medium several times in career, it really makes the career mode fun when the races are challenging. Not in a 30sec head start challenging, but a fighting in every braking zone, corner, and straight away, those A.I. cars WILL draft you even if you move they follow.
